ess supercharger impressions?
who here has an ess supercharger?
have you taken it to the track yet? (either kind) is there a noticible increase in torque? what kind of tires are you running, and are they hooking up well in 1st and 2nd gears?

My car is the test car for ESS VT2-500 and should be finished by the end of the month. It was supposed to be done already, but there was a fitment issue with intercooler piping. They installed the VT1-445 already, and according to reviews it's a hammer When I get the car back I will provide an in depth review of the kit. I expect the kit will be like all ESS products...rock solid! You wont find anything better for our cars for FI/tuning. As for tires, I use Nitto 555R drag radials in 285 size. They provide plenty of traction and can be driven in the rain. If you really want sticky tires (my next set) get the all new Nitto NTO5R drag radials. These tires are better than Mickey Thompsons!! probably get about 5000-10000 miles out of them. Check this out..... http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire...erview.gallery Last edited by fr8tdog; 06-17-2010 at 04:13 AM.. |

so no quarter mile numbers yet? I'm hoping that the "500hp" package will be close enough to Viper numbers, even though its really really down on torque

This is my ultimate upgrade mod. If I still have the car when I have nuff cash it will be done. Sad part is I could take all of my aftermarket mods together($ wise)and could have had the cash for the FI. Or damn close!

I will post 1/4 mile, 0-60, and 60-130 times using an extremely accurate VBOX with my ESS VT2-500. I hate to speculate, but I'm guessing with drag radials you can expect 4 seconds or maybe 3.9-3.8 0 to 60 and high 11's 1/4 mile. Obviously a ton of variables play into these numbers, but I think these are attainable with the VT2-500. I'm installing the VT3 as soon as it's available, and I expect 0-60 in 3 seconds flat and 1/4 mile high 10's. The ZO6 Vett does 0-60 in 3.6 with 505 crank HP on street tires and weighs about the same as the Z4M depending on how fat one is or gas tank level. Either case I will have results for this forum soon enough. Cheers

First impressions.
I was hesitant at first. I did not want to lose drivability to gain power. I was also concerned about elevated engine temps leading to premature engine ware. I spent a lot of time researching ESS through their website and forums like this. After a great deal of consideration, I decided to take the plunge.
First impressions: First of all, I have only put 300 miles the kit so far. This has all been back road and street driving, no track time. Overall I am very impressed with the kit. The installation is very clean and the kit looks good. Driving is next level. The kit performs better than I anticipated. The M is much faster through the gears, and there is no power fade or hesitation @ the top end. Awesome!! The power is always there underfoot and the car just gets up to speed faster. With the power gain, I do not seem to have lost any of the coupes drivability. What I mean by this is that I am not just spinning the tires everywhere; the power band is still very smooth like stock. Don’t get me wrong, if you want to “over drive” you cna still push the tail of this thing all over the place. The M has also been running about 10 degrees cooler than usual, and my gas mileage is averaging 20.8 when it used to be 20.5. So to this point, I am getting what I was looking for out of the ESS kit. More power, safe engine temps, and a blast to drive.

is that the 445hp kit? Are you running it on stock tires? Do you have good traction in first gear if you're smooth? Do you have an exhaust? what does the blower sound like?
when i drove my friend's ess blow e92 m3, it didn't have a whine to it, and just sounded like a whistle or something. a bit disappointing in that sense

-I am running 245/35/19 front and 285/30/19 rear Hankook evo v12's -Yes, very good traction for a street tire. -Yes, I am running RPI GT exhaust. -The "blower sound" is just a faint whistle. The intake growl is nice though. Quote:
I do not like to have anyone but myself work on the M, but I really did not want to wait two weeks. After talking to our local ESS Authorized intallation shop I was excited. It turns out that the they could do the intall the same week I got the kit, and the guy who would be doing the installation helped develop the intake for the kit. He did the installation on the red roadster. Their install was very clean and It was done earlier than quoted.
