KING | Christian Horner and BYD Discuss Potential Formula 1 Entry:

Christian Horner has engaged in discussions with BYD vice-president Stella Li as the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer considers entering Formula 1. Speaking to media, Li confirmed:

“We are always in close contact. I like Formula 1 because it's about passion and culture, and people dream of being in Formula 1.”

— BYD is exploring the possibility of establishing a new team rather than acquiring a minority stake in an existing one. Li expressed enthusiasm about the potential F1 project:

“We are discussing the possibility of joining the Formula 1 grid, which would provide the opportunity to put our technology to the test.”

— The company, which has overtaken Tesla as the leading electric car manufacturer, is interested in becoming the 12th team in the sport. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem commented on the potential for new teams:

“If there is a Chinese [bid], and I will speak on behalf of them [FOM] now in front of you, they will agree to that, because it is about sustaining the business.”

Ben Sulayem emphasized the importance of adding value to the championship:

“For us, the [12th] team has to add value to sustaining the business of Formula 1, and the business of Formula 1 is not about the income, it's about the longevity of the championship itself.”

— Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Group, highlighted the need for caution with new team entries:

“We'll only evaluate a bid of great significance because I think we're already at a point with no more room; logistically, we're at the limit.”

— Christian Horner, who left his roles at Red Bull in 2025, is now free to pursue new opportunities in Formula 1. His meetings with Li in Cannes suggest a potential collaboration with BYD.

— Horner's proven track record makes him an attractive prospect for investment, and his involvement with BYD could pave the way for a new team in the sport.

What I can make of that is he pushed the Cayman into MAX's path also but we know MAX's tiger cat reflexes. As for the LHD Cayman he could see 3 car on his near mirror but wasn't quick enough to notice he had a double barrel at once on both sides.
* Look at car 3's brake lights coming on before the hit, he knew what was going to happen.

Maybe someone should start a Max Verstappen topic? There is a formula one race this weekend and we best enjoy that while we can?

Poor GuidoK's work is getting trampled

I must admit that F1 had somewhat disappeared from the radar screen with me while this exciting GT3 weekend was in full swing. Now that it's over and the other approaching I can still faintly hear Fernie's words of 'boring' but I will still fathom it

While the Cadillac Formula 1 Team may not yet be a threat on the track they are mighty good on the web.

I seen Netflix also has the Canadian GP.
Not sure if it’s going to have the F1 or Sky TV commentators.

I'm excited, this will be my first "in person" F1 event. Bucket list item checked off for me. Also getting to visit the garage of Aston Martin F1 team. Hoping the rain holds out for Sunday's race!!

I think you'll love it. Particularly the incredibly late braking deceleration that television just can't capture. Here's a caution...Over the years I've attended 17 GPs at this track (but am unable to attend this year). Be watchful of Sunday's weather forecast. You're on an island surrounded by water which if there's rain and a stiff breeze with temps in the 50'sF it can be a chilling experience if one's not dressed properly. Really wish that the race had been able to keep its June date.

Thanks for the heads up, appreciate any/all info. I'll also be sitting in (of all places) Lance Stroll's GS24, right on the hairpin. Should catch a ton of action from this location, hoping to see some!!!! How bad is the metro to get to the island? I'll be staying in "old" Montreal, so I'll be somewhat close. Are they super strict on backpack sizes vs. what's actually IN the backpack?

One year we sat in gs24. Think for a first timer you're in a good one. There's a big screen which will help you follow the race (pit stops).
The Metro is efficient but very crowded. Try going early and leaving late to minimize the crush.
Seating is tight, so no huge pack.
Cheap ponchos...a must (grandstand etiquette: no umbrellas)
Seat cushion...a must.
The casino is a must visit.
Crescent Street (downtown) is a must visit.
If something else comes to mind I'll post again.
