Hidden 'Z' in Design...
I've been driving my E86 M Coupe for almost 9 years now, and just realized there was a hidden Z in the design...am I the only one?
I realized it when I was wearing a shirt from blipshift and looked at myself in the mirror (image from shirt also attached).

There’s a thread buried somewhere about it. If I remember right there’s another hidden besides the one you highlighted. It’s kinda like where’s Waldo also a cool thread about the designer and concept too but can’t find it atm.

The model designation in BMW language, the "Z" represents Zunkunft, (Future) translated to English.
Anders Warming working under Chris Bangle is credited with inventing the "flame surfacing" cleverly layering the Z into the aspects of our Z4's. At the time the styling was avante guard, and often overlooked, or decried. However, now 20 years on is is considered a masterpiece, as are other Bangle inspired cars from the late 90's and early 2000's. Like the Alfa Romeo coupes and convertibles circa 2000 ish, and the Fiat coupes from the mid 1990's Last edited by Willy Sea; 01-14-2022 at 02:34 PM.. |
