GB Interest: Z4M Custom Front Aero + GB updates

We're at the point where I need to know how much interest there is in order to move forward with a GB.
This is an INTEREST ONLY thread.

Links to more info....

The Details
  • I need a minimum of 6 firm commitments to proceed.
  • I will start with initial production run of 6, complete & shipped.
if there are remaining orders, they would be scheduled at that time.
  • My goal from the beginning was to keep the cost of these less than $1K. With the latest changes I can do them for $950 USD.
  • Cost of packaging, and shipping has not been determined yet and is not factored in the price.
  • Price is based on finished product, blocked out and sanded ready for paint.
  • All fasteners, double sided tape etc will be included c/w full instructions on fitting.

I would like an indication of many are seriously interested in starting a GB
This list isn't a firm commitment but I would appreciated it if you only list if you are realistically ready to go ahead with it.

Z4M Custom Aero GB Interest List
  1. Daemonblitz (tentative)
  2. crfine88
  3. comics69
  4. abashoe
  5. GPower
  6. bibbly
  7. Beedub (tentative)
  8. ZMCoupe

NOTE:
  • To avoid confusion, please don't copy and paste the list into your post. Just indicate your interest and I will update the master.
  • Its OK to indicate 'tentative' if you aren't sure at this point, but I wont count that as one of the 6 needed.
  • As soon as there is enough interest shown, I plan to proceed with making production templates etc.
I will make up one complete production piece before proceeding with the final GB.

If you follow the links above, the materials and construction are detailed.
Sorry, but it will not be produced in CF.

Sorry guys, I forgot to note one thing...

I will start with initial production run of 6, complete & shipped.
if there are remaining orders, they would be scheduled at that time.

This is mainly to keep production time reasonable.

I know the answer will vary from car to car, but can you measure from the ground to the bottom of the lip? Curious to know what the clearance looks like.

Clearance is the same as OE.
The splitter bottom is level with the bottom of the bumper.

I know this is kind of a stretch but is there anyway to make one in more of an mstache 2 style form lip where it as some curves towards the edges like the oem bumper is instead of just a complete round front end?

Just throwing it out there. By the way I think it looks great and in no way am I trying to take anything away from your skill set as I could do nothing of the sort.

No offence taken...
That was in my original thoughts as well.

I played with a few different design elements such as what you mentioned but it becomes very difficult to do that and still match the arc of the section profile.
I did several mock ups, and it ended up looking a little too contrived.

Carbon fiber would be sexy like others said but i would probably color match anyway so i guess that may not be as big a deal to me, strength is more of a concern an it seems that they are strong from the tests you have done.

Have you actually tried any other designs than that one or is that all you have completely finished at the moment? Either way I defiantly like how it rides all the way up the bumper. Side skirts and a rear diffuser next maybe ?

I'm sure some would love CF no matter how much there is, I love CF too.
But I think the way it curves into the wheel arch would be over the top for me.

Yeah, this thing is as strong as it gets for something like this.
The Kevlar adds expense but it plays a HUGE part in making this a tough piece.
Kevlar is especially good with abrasion, so having it on the bottom and leading edge is almost like a skid plate.

Yes, if this GB works out, side extensions will follow.
I have some preliminary design worked out.

Diffuser is a maybe... I know someone else that has something in mind.

Do you have a photo / rendering of how far this will extend on the underside (thinking about how this can tie to the front undertray)?

I don't have a pic of that location, but it finishes under the front lip of the under tray.
The tray mounts in its normal position.

I'll get a pic tomorrow.
