And a bunch on non documented updates have taken place. some still in progress.. hell the whole car is an ongoing project..

I am not sure what's next, possibly the door cards or the dash... after I finish up modding out the rear with Alcantara.

First rough sketch..

Materials: backing panel will be 3 ply. The upper arm rest/where the skin will meet the glass will be balsa covered in glass resin. And a heatly dose of Alcantara.
And some Porsche RS3 door pulls.

Should be pretty darn light.

I hear you Micheal, but one of the goals for my car is to be able to return it to stock if I have to. So the bulkhead will need to stay. I am ok with that. But ill need to fix it up a bit. I do have a bunch of questions for you though, if you don't mind?

ill be pulling the dash over the next few weeks, and was wondering what there is to remove if I keep my AC. Id like to pull the heating system (def won't need that) and anything else thats under there that I wont need.

can you remember anything that you removed from under there?

IIRC, the heater box under the dash is really more like a climate control box. I don't think you'll be able to remove heat without AC. Obviously, I didn't really pay much attention to this as all was coming out.

Been a bit, and there has been some good process on the door skins. Initially sourcing CF was a real disappointment as it was very costly. Over 500 us just for 2 sections of 90cm x50cm

The other issue is that our doors are not flat, so offsets will have to be put in place. Initially I wanted to make this cosmetically very OEM looking, but came to the conclusion that the first and foremost it must be functional and it must be light.

I've nearly finished my mark I design and I am pretty happy with it. It took quite a long time to shape as the arm rest side isn't completely straight with the window rubber.

Only the offsets to be put in place to go. And the door handle/strap to be sorted.

Pictures to come when the kids get off my phone..

How does this DSSR even work in our cars?

Doesn't a straight rod design hit our guibo?

Most of the DSSR designs I have seen for our cars are bent like the AKG version.

By the way, what custom shifter are you using?

Shifter is completely custom and has a pretty darn short throw, shorter that the CAE shifter. Took over 8 months to deliver to my house after ordering. The throw is custom, the housing is custom (more narrow at the front, and wider at the rear) the inner working have been customised, no spring and no no return function (as our cars don't really need that as the stick is based a lot to positive centre anyways)

Next time i have the exhaust off, i might take a pic or 2 for ya.

Id recommend buying the CAE one, its much cheaper than if you have to modify everything.

the DSSR is completely hand made, custom for my car, and i highly doubt it would fit on anyone elses.

Just bought some 2x2 twill of CF material. specs below.
Going to see if my surfboard shaping skills haven't left me.

Material
High-quality Toray Carbon Fiber
Weave: 2*2 twill
Ends Per Inch :13
Yarn Size: 3K
Thickness: 0.012"/0.3mm
Weight: 7.1oz / 240gsm
Tensile strength:640KSI / 4380Mpa

This should be fun, I wonder what would be nicer, matt or gloss, probably;y matt id say.

Depending on the cost of the resin, should turn out pretty cheap, even if I have to double up on the CF to get the thickness I need. Looking for 1mm thick skin. hopefully will turn out pretty darn light.. sadly, if it turns out really nice, it would be a shame to cover up the CF with Alcantara, so if this does turn out good, ill probably only cover the arm rest in fabric.

Note: I've decided against using the P-rs3 door pulls as if something happens and gowd-forbid, you need to get out fast, id never forgive myself if something went wrong with the door pull and for whatever reason that you couldn't open the door. Going to use the stock hem door openers.. at least they are engineered to work, and safe.

The door pulls will be just that, a door pull. not for opening and unlocking the door.

edit:

On a side note, my car is in for corner balancing atm, hopefully get it back today.

Car came home from corner balancing yesterday afternoon, pretty happy with the results.

That's with rollbar, rear and front Stb (back one is heavy) big battery in the boot, (11lbs one on the way) and door cards in place. Lol and full fuel. so half tank would be minus 27.5 kgs.

Note the rear right will come down by 7kgs for the batt, with the fuel at 1/2 tank which will pretty much put it in 50/50.

Pretty darn happy with that.

Note, Rear new sway installed , set at middle. new \different\ front end links installed as those long ones are not for this kit apparently...

Weight is looking really good! Assuming not but figured I would ask - does that total figure include you (driver)?
