Finally got a Z

I’ve had this z4 for a few months now....it has been great and I enjoy driving it. No issues so far and keeping my fingers crossed.
It’s an ‘03 2.5....i know the 3.0 has enormous power compared to the 2.5...I’ve driven both during my search. But I don’t drive fast and would just like to enjoy the open top driving experience.

Great looking car!
Wish mine was that shiny.

Have had my 2003 2.5 for eight seasons, still love to drive it with the top down,
and I think the stock older models, especially the wheels, look great.
Hope you get as much pleasure from the car as I do mine

It wasn’t that shiny when I got it...had to buff and polish the paint to remove a lot of swirl marks...my first black car. I have to admit, it’s a pain to maintain a black car...silver or grey is way better....

Mine is the same as yours and honestly I test drove a 3.0 after having mine for a while and while it felt quicker I still liked mine more. I'm upgrading the suspension and brakes this week and am getting ready to order a supercharger. Super easy and affordable car to work on, actually enjoy it. Just watch out for the convertible top motor, mine recently bit the dust so I'm doing that this week too. Also watch out for the oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gaskets for leaks, and the coolant tank...they like to explode. All easy cheap fixes.

Does yours have the "sport mode" button?

If I were 20 years younger I’d definitely go with the 3.0. No sport mode button on mine...i thought those can only be found on the 3.0? Checked engine top to bottm and so far no leaks..gaskets were replaced by the PO last year. I need to replace motor mounts soon. Will also do the coolant tank soon as I read they had a bad repuation of blowing up.

2.5 had the option of the sport button which mine has. It's nice to have and I think you have the wiring since it's an 03, believe you just need the button. Makes the steering tighter too.

Coolant tank is a time bomb. Mine gave way with out warning, luckily it just was a pin hole and I could still make it home. Replace everything when you do it.

I know a guy selling the sport mode button..it hooks somewhere under the center console...i guess it’s plug and play. Does it make a big difference?
