2014 NorCal Track Days

Just figured I'd start a new thread since it's a new year. Also, I feel bad because I've just been a lurker as of late

I'm planning on attending NCRC's Laguna track day on Friday May 2nd, if anyone's interested. Yes, I'm aware it's months away, but it's the earliest NCRC Laguna day available that I know of; as well as a day that I actually feel like I can make it out to. Since my car is not in battle condition as of yet (still want to address LSD ticking issue, as well as put in a new supercharger core unit for more power and torque, as well as fix the FI tuning), I plan on bringing a Scion FRS and have some fun with that instead of my own car

We'll have to see if that one (the 5/2 Laguna date) actually comes to pass, as that weekend is on MRLS's calendar for the Tudor SportsCar Championship races (merged ALMS/Grand Am) - MRLS may have had that date up for grabs on their original rental calendar before the pro races finalized their schedules, but I think I know who will win out on this one!

I'm with CFRA (http://www.cfra.net/web/) and will probably be doing at least one LS day and i MUST get on Sears Point this year. Targeting the 9/21 date for that. Also, want to try the new course at Thunder Hill when that is ready...

The next time I go to Thunderhill will probably be when the new course is finished. I'm too lazy to drive up there otherwise

So the May 2nd NCRC Laguna track day has been confirmed. I contacted Dave Mills and he said it'll be a normal 4-run-group day with the usual 5 sessions. I believe it's only 90dB sound limit day however.

I will be contacting my car rental source for the Scion FRS track service special
For the occasion, I plan on getting some upgraded pads and fluid for the car even though it's a rental and will eventually be returned. It'll be worth the investment for a fun day out with some friends. I'm going to be sharing the car with a coworker, so the brakes need to hold up for the entire day and then some

Yeah...I've been lurking for months too. But definitely want to do many track days this year! Sonoma, Thunderhill, LS, let's do them all. I'll be doing Sonoma on my motorcycle with Z2trackdays/track masters early March, and it's a car/moto day so hopefully some of you can make it out and represent with the M's! I'm actually tempted to somehow find a way to do both the car and bike...hahah.

I just checked NCRC's site and it said May 2nd is Thunderhill.

I definitely want to hit a 92dB day at Laguna, but I know my car won't pass at 90 so hopefully we can score a 92. Either that or I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace the Borla that I so preciously love with something quieter...

Sparknotes me. Which host? How much? Are passengers allowed? I plan on sharing a rental car with a coworker.

Yep. I'll be signing up under Z2trackdays for the moto section though. Jon and I are trying to figure out a way to bring our Z4M's and our bikes so we can split the day...or maybe we'll do one half day bikes on Sunday and one half day cars on Saturday.

Trackmasters Sonoma

Hey, guys. I'm in for Sonoma. Gernard, are you def doing both days? I'd be up for either or maybe both. I think Laguna 92s are getting hard to find. You could lift up the hill....better than dumping that sweet Borla...I added Euroheader to mine via Donovan and not sure I can hit 90 going flat either, though Remus are not as racy...

I think I'll have to scrap the rental FRS plan/idea because I don't want any hassle with them wanting me to replace their tires afterwards or any other sort of BS like that

David, I'm doing Saturday on the bike for sure, still unsure about Sunday since they're only running intermediate level, and I need to talk to them to see if I qualify for that (I think they ask for 10 track days and by that time I'll have about 8).

I agree, it's hard to find 92 days at Laguna, but one of my co-workers said he knows of a few days with some other organizations, but it's all in relation to how much the day is going to cost...more room for dB, more cost for the day. I'll keep you posted on what he finds out, he tracks a sweet Boxster Spyder RS...

You can do intermediate for sure. No fun going back to the back, but you'll get out of it. Only difference is the passing, and I like letting them by anywhere vs. having to wait. I'm signing up for Saturday, but may add another day if you guys are all out there. I want to see you run on your bike! If anything happens, can I have your Alcantra wheel??
