Same here - the "well into middle age" part I think the Eisenmann Sports is just the sweet spot for our cars (for those that don't have any other exhaust mods), but sometime I wished they were a bit louder.

If you adore the Eisenmann cans and thought they added depth and character, wait until you pair it with a non-resonated X-Pipe (like RE)!

in my case, it just did not fit. May I be able to force it? maybe, but the carbon though strong, is thin, and the last thing I want is a cracked box. I will test anti-slip floor tape to make it bind.

Many aftermarket exhausts (even premium brands) are plain awful in the S54, the sound is very ricer. far from exotic-sounding engines like old Jaguar's I-6. I had Remus, and they are now paperweights, I used to have this brand in an old Renault Clio Sport, and that was pure magic, but I think it has to do with the engine design why they just do not make nice exhaust sounds.

Wait for you to drive with a CSL intake, then you will be converted, it really is an exotic and special noise, way better than any fart can we can put on these cars.

Had to remove the OE filter as it had contact to the Karb box and may nick it. Just need to bring the Eventuri filter housing. Meanwhile is decommissioned from the road

People don’t realize the cost of all the ancillaries are just as, if not more, expensive as an eventuri

Snorkel is 400
CSL Brake booster solenoid is another 100
CSL dipstick is another 100
CSL filter is another 100
CSL PCV hose is 50
IAT relocation harness is about 80
IAT sensor is 50
CSL piping for the secondary feed is another 150
Alpha N is 1000!!!!!!

So just do the math, and the OE style box plus eventuri suddenly becomes a bargain, you can do without a remap, and if you really want one, MAF OTS maps are 400 or so.

So, for 95% of the experience, is much more cost effective, and if you add the sound generator, is about 110 the experience

Karbonius Carbon intake plenum installed. Other engine performance mods are the Turner IAT relocation kit, intake air straightener screen, BMC air filter, intake scoop, Supersprint V1 63mm step headers, welded resonators in S1, stock resonator, mufflers and Severn Tune.

Karbonius Carbon Plenum quality is second to none, and the fitment was perfect. Air intake music is almost as good as the CSL. The complete CSL system is a tad louder and cleaner, but I am delighted with the current setup. Currently waiting for the sound generator to arrive in a few months, and frankly, I am not sure it's needed. I hope it will amplify the sound volume only.

Thank you for sharing! Did you come across any tips for the install and did you have to bend or space out the oil dipstick?

It's been proven OEM sealed intake box flows the best. It'd be awesome if someone made a carbon OEM intake box cover and elbow to improve the sound.

My mechanic did the installation, and he said the fitment was great.

I saw a few conflicting numbers for the throttle body boot and clamp (pre-2004 or M3) specifically. Is below what is required for installation if you choose not to reuse the existing hardware?

BMW CSL Crankcase Vent Hose - 11157833649 - Qty 1
BMW Air Collector Gasket (Throttle Body Boot) - 11617835861 - Qty 6
BMW Hose Clamp - 11617835320 - Qty 6

Any need to purchase the following for dipstick clearance?

BMW Euro CSL Dipstick Guide Tube - 11437833653 - Qty 1
BMW CSL Oil Disptick - 11437834784 - Qty 1

These are what you need

11612466477 - Throttle Body Boot, the one you posted above is for the Z4M and post 10/2004 E46 M3's. The 11617835861 part is larger in diameter and would not fit the Karb box

11617830306 - Throttle Body Boot Clamp, Intake side. These are smaller clamps than what Z4M's came with but are needed for the smaller boot

The dipstick and tube are optional as you can reuse them with the OE style Karb Box, I had these as I had the CSL version, and chose to leave the CSL items there as I got lazy, but may reinstall the original items to make the dipstick more accessible. if you go with the CSL items (smaller and lighter) you can access them rather easily from behind the intake elbow.

Perfect, thank you for spelling it out. Makes sense now given Karbonius’ development approach. These numbers should be stickied in the original post or an install reference guide.

I just noted an error, no need for the jet pump solenoid, I realized you asked about the OE style Karb. that one uses the original one. I edited my post above.

I suspect the Group Buy discount from this original list (and NA3FORUM) has now closed, MBan would need to reach out and see if Karbonius is interested in extending it. The code was linked to individual emails

Has anyone paired this with the Gruppe-M intake? Curious on the sound / fit.

I finally finished my installation. I struggled big time with getting the intake elbow to stay, it would constantly slip off, tightening the clamp did not help, actually made it worse as it would slip out even easier. But a bit of ingenuity and all is good.

I used antislip floor tape and it worked perfect.

I also added rubber grommets to the dipstick tube, adding the nut in my opinion adds stress to the carbon box that I rather don't want.

And here is the final product

Name: IMG_3695.jpg

I may go back to the CSL dipstick.

I also tested the sound generator and it is loud, however, in the cabin the sound is a bit different and it masks the CSL warble a bit, but it does sound LOUD
