not to sound like a retard, but what does spending all this money get you? The M Coupe is already one of the stiffest cars out there, not to mention you add an engine strut and it's perfectly balanced as well...

Seroiusly...do you need it? The center of gravity is already like 4 inches off of the ground and I haven't gotten the thing to roll at all...I'm just trying to think of the justification for spending all the money. If the justification is that it looks cool or better, than rock on man.

There is a definite performance improvement.
The OE springs do not transition well between progession stages. The first stage is far to soft. Since I track the beastie... it was a no brainer for me.

TCKline has double adjustable Konis with your preference as to spring rates. He also has camber plates, lower control arms (rear) and a variety of replacement bushings.
TMS's bushing limiter kit works well, and now BMS is offering one too. And don't forget the BMW strut tower brace. It's light, strong, and has holes so you can adjust your shocks. |

FWIW, I had an opportunity to speak with TC last weekend and it sounds like the official Koni struts have arrived at his Ohio warehouse. No more hand crafted noisy prototypes.

Nope...still have yet to track it, and I don't drive too crazy on the highways. It happens when you are on your 2nd move in 6 months.

I had no idea that the Z4MC/R had progressive springs from the factory. Anyone have specifics on the rates etc.?
Dammmitt, I agree with you that the Z4M is close to perfectly setup by the factory even for moderate track use. However, once you start pushing the car there are some characteristics that can be improved on- from my perspective these would be a little less roll on tight/high speed corners and the fact that track undulations esp mid-corner do upset the suspension somewhat. IMHO, the above might be solved with a good set of shocks and lightweight wheels and tires- I was thinking Koni FSDs. But since Koni does not make a set for our cars, we have to choose from the choices out there. |

KW has a new Clubsport line, which has a beefier body and linear spring. Some have camber plates too...
Personally I agree with Dammmittt in that suspension bits for the Z4 M are not an absolute must. I'd rather spend the $2,000 on a shorter final drive diff ratio (i.e., 3.91). With that diff ratio our cars can out-accelerate the new M3.

Has anyone adjusted the strut angle on the front end top mounting points of the struts?
In the old ZForum that a young man webmastered, there was a post with photos of the strut adjustment. There was a slight adjustment that some guys who took theirs to the track did on their front ends and they swore by this adjustment. I couldn't find anything in this forum on it and was wondering if anyone knew anything about this particular mod? I also thought adding a strut brace would help stiffen the front end and help minimize push on hard turns. Haven't sprung for one <yet> but with the roadster, it could use a stiffer front end around turns, even local driving not on a track. |
