Yup you are absolutely right. I literally just took a look and you can see that the underside is a very smooth plasticy material, and where the textured upper surface material is folded and wrapped around the edges.

The OE is wrapped with rubber like skin layer, similer texture as the door cards. We took that off to make a mold. We decided not to offer a wrapped finish since it'll give owner a option to do paint match or wrapping in (alcantara, leather etc).. The most difficult part is figuring out the lock latch.. but it works well now with adjustability.
