The first link didn't work Beedub. As for the 2nd link, those wipes should be fine but in reality just basic regular alcohol you use for cuts and such should work just fine, that's the one I normally use. I don't know if leaving the lip on the radiator will do anything but let us know if you notice a change

Beedub the link worked fine. As for that product, it should do the job of sealing and holding the spoiler in place. If you go with the black silicone, you have to consider the fact that you're gonna have to put that sealant as perfect as possible to avoid making the spoiler seem uneven and crooked, unless of course you're able to hold all that silicone right under the spoiler without having any of it squirt out to the sides. If you successfully use that black one, it'll look 100% legit. If you go with the clear silicone, it'll seal the gaps but they should still be visible.
That product doesn't indicate if it can specifically be used on bodywork. You'll be able to yank out the spoiler if needed in the future but that paint man... I don't know... I'm not sure I would wanna mess with that sticky stuff

As they told me when I came in at the last minute (and it worked), message the OP. I believe he had 3 when I ordered mine

Finally got the part thanks to Christmas mayhem. The carbon fiber is absolutely flawless, and the interior fill is very nice. The packaging job was amazing, which saved my spoiler from damage after the lazy US C&BP officers opened my package and took the end of sleeving off the part and failed to put it back in its shell nor spot in the box!
I won't have a chance to test fit until tomorrow but I will say any of you who think heat will help the part bend are undertaking a fool's errand. The hollow carbon fiber shell is filled with a thermoset polymer, likely urethane, which is rigid and won't be affected by heat. |

ZeD4Mr, I want to thank you for this work of art. I just got the chance to lay this thing on my trunk and the fitment is better than an OEM piece. Anyone who is complaining has never dealt with aftermarket or OEM aero pieces, let alone seen the gap between their own hood and bumper!
This is a 10/10 piece, and I appreciate your hard work and effort for bringing this to us roadster guys. Ignore the naysayers, as I get that's the problem with dealing with M guys...you are the man! I will post pics soon as it warms up above 40F and I can mount this thing. As a previous poster said, its so beautiful I may want a second to mount on my wall! Edit: Any chance I could pre-pay for a front lip???? Last edited by Bimmer_Addict; 12-27-2016 at 11:57 PM.. |

Not sure you can compare gaps in body panels that hinge, to a part that is fixed to the body. A consistent gap would be acceptable. Anywho, I am going ahead with the reforming of the part using gradual heat. Anything can be flexed. If it didn't flex it would fracture. I may get to the point of fracture, but I will not use it on my car as it is right now. I will report back my progress for anyone interested. Again......an exceptional looking piece.

That'll pull right down with sheet metal screws.

Mine just got into the US yesterday morning, from California to San Antonio Texas this morning, so I'll probably get it tomorrow. I know how I'll spend my Friday evening after work! 😄

Please, if you can get some close up pics of the back side of the spoiler where it meets the top of the trunk lid so I can compare my fitment.

I had the old BMW aero wing professionally removed and the new Skyer spoiler installed last night. I am pretty happy with the final result, I really like how it changes the whole look of the car. The CF is brilliant and on silver it really pops! There is indeed a very slight gap, but it doesn't show up in the pictures nor does it really bother me. Nonetheless, my body shop guy thought it was significant enough to have me come back and approve the fitment before installing. Ultimately though, I'm quite happy with the final product and will take some more pictures tomorrow.

Again, very minor in my opinion but body shop guys and perfectionists will probably notice. View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com |

That looks great man, love the look. I went home to pick mine up as it was delivered but didn't have time to sit it on my car because I was in lunch. I'll get back to those that requested pics or step by step

thanks red acre its difficult to capture gaps but I'm pleased your happy overall.... its a great looking piece.... the quality is beautiful but something is off on certain pieces, today i spent 2 hours perfecting seating it, the gap on mine is for me at least not acceptable, one side is acceptable the other is silly large, i can actually slip coins thru the gap on the one side, and i can also see through to the back side section.
interesting comment R.e the body shop calling you in to get approval before fitting, clearly he was concerned enough to do this... this is a really nice item and id love it to work out, for me at least I've decided to not install mine.

Eureka
OK so after some perseverance I have a tight fitting Skyer spoiler.
Took a bit of ingenuity and careful compression in the right spots and she gave way as I had expected. I will be leaving the spoiler in its "pressed state" over the weekend so it sets permanently. Very happy now. I am also a perfectionist and this piece now belongs on my car. Quality of the finish was never in question. I suspect the first few lips that came off were released from the mold a bit quick in an effort to expedite delivery and were not quite ready for release. My iPad only lets me insert one pic at a time so there are 2 posts in a row showing the two different sides of the fit up.
