Tailpipe Trims - 2.5i Sport
Hi Guys,
Just took delivery of a 2.5i sport today, brand new 07 plate, absolutely love it! Prior to the cars delivery I purchased the geniune bmw tailpipe trips which I was told were for this model, but I just cant seem to make them fit, I dont want to force them and damage my exhaust, has anyone had issues fitting these? The raised grooves inside the trim seems to be too big for the tailpipe itself, I just cant slide them on Cheers in advance, Nick |

I had to use a pair of pliers to bend the bottom portion of each tailpipe up slightly so that I could fit the bolt underneath it while sliding the exhaust tip over. Then I used a sponge and a hammer to knock them in as far as they would go. The sponge is of course to prevent you from damaging your tips while hammering them.
They look awesome! |

Hmmm. It doesn't sound the same as mine, but then again, yours is a much newer model, and I think the exhaust pipes are much more circular in yours.
If you still have your receipt or label on your tips, you should check the part # and make sure that it is indeed the right part(s) for your car. If it is, then you can be more confident about being aggressive in putting the tips on. How are your tips supposed to stay on then? Mine has a built in nut on the underside of the chrome tip with a screw that you tighten into the original pipe within. |

I poached mine from my old 2.5SE. tried to fit on 06 2.5 si sport, wont fit.
The 2.5 SE has smaller and slightly oval pipes and the trims do have 4 rims that slide on top and underneath the exhaust pipe. The si has larger round pipes. Wonder why I have not seen a si with trims?? would not damage or bend exhaust pipe bmw would void wty if any issues. So I have a couple of tale pipe trims up for sale. |

The ones you've bought are for a pre-facelift car. Because yours is a facelift model, the part number you need is 18307551507.

You ave my sympathies. I was looking at those trims on fleabay, but as the link below shows they wont fit the 2.5si http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...18&fg=20&hl=20 this site is excellent for checking part numbers etc |

Wasn't it 20Ducks that polished his stock tips until they shone almost like chrome?
the thing I like best about the chrome tips is the rolled edge.

Yal, I remember 20Ducks saying that he polished his metal exhaust pipes to a near-chrome finish, but he never got a chance to post the pics before z4um went down. 20Ducks, you gonna post 'em or you gonna wait until z4um comes back on? |

Just to answer on his behalf, he only got it a few weeks back, maybe 6 weeks, not long before Z4um went down because he'd just posted the pics there? It's an 07 plate.
