Excellent! I think Black just looks amazing when it's all washed and polished. Only problem with Black is it gets dirty so darn fast; I feel like I'm always washing my car to try to keep it looking good. =)
I actually don't know if I have a favorite color for the M coupe though, every time I see another coupe on the road (these time are few and far between) I end up really loving it in the color I just saw. I've seen IB, IR, AW, SG on the road so far... all excellent colors. Wish I could have one of each! =) |

Awesome Pics man, I've been debating on a wheel setup and the ZCPs on your car look awesome with SBM. I have to decide between those or some forgestar F14s. The OEM look is amazing with the spacer though.

Thanks! I'm really happy with the ZCP wheels. I think they really look perfect on the M coupe. I've gotten a ton more complements on the car ever since I switched to these wheels.

Black is where it is at....... My Z4 is the 5th black vehicle I have owned...currently my black beauty sits under a grey cover, peaking it's rear out getting ready for spring.

Nice wheels, does the zcp with your 245/285 and spacers have any issues with stock suspension? Ay rubbing?
Thanks dude, nice ride, I got an the same car and am still trying to decide on rims.

I haven't noticed any rubbing front or rear with the ZCP 245/285, with or without the spacers on the fronts.

Ended up getting the F14s myself in 18", but I do love the CSL-style wheels. I need to take some pics with the F14s soon.

I personally went ZCP just because I wanted to stick to mostly OEM/OEM+ mods, but there are definitely lighter wheels than ZCPs out there if you want something for track/street use. |

Just purchased my Z4 ///M Coupe.
I replaced the factory wheels with BBS CH wheels.

Fabspeed Headers
I installed my Fabspeed Headers last weekend. I think it turned out well. The fitment is pretty good, but not quite OEM level. I had to cut about a 1/4" off of one flange on the transmission (see picture post-cut), and I had to widen the holes on the heat shield so that I could get it back on, but other than that it went pretty smooth. Also, the flanges on the Fabspeed headers are thicker than the OEM headers, but I was still able to use my OEM studs without having to resort to switching to the E36 M3 studs.
I went with Fabspeed because for about $1k they seemed to have the best performance, quality, and fitment for that price. Well the fitment was a bit of a gamble since not many people have put these on a Z4M, but I figured if guys could squeeze these into an M3 then the Z4M shouldn't be a problem. Plus, the promise of possibly eliminating the CEL with built in O2 spacers (see picture below) for the secondary O2 sensors was enticing, since I'm not running any tune as of yet (still waiting for the Evolve R-Cable). These headers are stainless steal, but I had them coated with Jet-Hot 2000 (black) before doing the install. The first day, I drove 60 miles in the canyons nearby and had the engine running hot and in the high revs for most of those miles, and no CEL. But today I drove about 20 commuter miles and right before I pulled into the garage this evening the CEL came on. Bummer. I guess that spacer isn't magic after all. =\ Overall they doesn't really sound much louder but just more raspy in the lower RPM range when I've got the throttle fairly wide open. It sounds/feels like a lot more air is surging through the exhaust system. I haven't noticed any flat spots like I use to notice with the OEM headers, so that's a big plus. I'm sure once I get a tune I'll get more out of these headers. But as of right now, I think the 4.10 gear change is what I feel most. Last edited by marinb; 04-03-2012 at 12:38 AM.. |

Great car Marinb, very classy mods. I also have a black sapphire. I've been going back and forth and what color to go with the wheels, either black with some kid of lip on it or ones like you've got. Seeing your pics makes me think this may be the way to go

Black wheels look sick on Red, White, or Silver cars. So the opposite must be true for a Black car... I didn't think I could pull off red or white wheels, so I went with silver. I think the contrast is perfect. ...maybe I'll get some red or white wheels as a track set. =P |

I installed the P3Cars vent integrated digital interface. The trickiest part was routing the cable to the OBDII port cleanly. Here's how I did it:
Step 1: Remove your stock vent. There are 2 screws. This should be straightforward and easy. Step 2: Unclip your OBDII port from the Connector Base. The base is the item with the floppy door. There is a blue sliding clip on the top of the Connector Base (accessed from inside the vent area). Slide the blue clip back and then the OBDII port can be removed. Step 3: Remove the Connector Base. There are 4 small tabs (2 on each side), push these in (accessed from inside the vent area). Then pull the base out from underneath the dash. The picture below shows the Connector Base with the floppy door already removed (I just snapped the door off the base). Step 4: You will need to purchase the P3Cars Low Profile OBD2 Extension. Go to the Add-ons and Accessories part of their site. It looks like this: Step 5: Cut a notch on the bottom left side of the Connector Base, so that you can run the cable for the OBDII Extension. I cut this notch using a dremel. Step 6: Cut a similar notch underneath the dash where the Connector Base attaches. Step 7: Run your OBDII Extension Cable through the hole then clip in the Connector Base. Step 8: Plug everything in and finish the P3Cars vent install. Do you have a pic of the VW flashlight? Curious how it fits in our ash tray? Does the door close all the way? also is it LED?

BMW, also makes a LED cig flashlight now. It wasn't available when I was buying those VW lights, so I don't know if it fits or not: http://www.amazon.com/BMW-LED-Flashl...dp/B007B5O062/

Very clean install on the P3Cars gauge Best part is that the smog testers would probably think that's just the cover for your OBD-II port
How are you securing the cable & box behind the dash? Last thing I want to have is more stuffs rattling around behind the dash area. |
