CD errors
I've noticed something odd on my Z4. Occasionally (when my car has been in the sun for a while) my CD player quits working and I get a "CD Error" message that appears and then the radio switches on. I never observe this in the early (cool) mornings or late in the evening. Has anyone observed this ?

Yes, There was a CD in the unit. My first thought was that it could be from a "non-standard" CD thickness but it happens on standard brands as well. I saw this quote on some Z4 review site ...
"Most worryingly, the CD player, mounted right underneath the dash vents, can't deal with full-blast heat on a cold, top-down day for more than an hour and a half; it overheats and reads "CD ERROR" until you blow some cold air and give it a rest. I'm puzzled by it...I will let the dealer deal with it |

I use the iPod and hadn't tried CDs since I got my car (used) back in Sept. but tried some the other day.
I'm having no luck with CD's in my 2004 Professional CD. Brand new CDs, home made CDs, etc., doesn't matter. Usually I get CD Error initially, but sometimes a disc will play through unless I try to jump to the next or previous track and then it's CD Error again. Pull out a CD that was working and try to play it again and it won't play. Guess its time for the dealer....

Dealer replaced my radio with a re-manufactured one. Works great now.

I'm having this same problem, anyone else these days having this problem?
I am getting CD ERROR when using burned mp3 cd's. They work sometimes but most times they don't. It's weird because if a CD works once it should always work unless damaged. The cd player supports the CD's I'm using. |
