No mention of our beloved Z4Ms!
Watched a you tube track test "-Driving the best BMW M cars" by Auto Express out of Britain last nite. E30 M3, M635, E46 M3, E39 M5, Z3M clownshoe,1M ,etc. Not a single word uttered about the Z4M! No honorable mention-nada! Its a far better car than the Z3M and has the motor and brakes and steering that they rave about. Our unicorn seems to be left out alot. Not the first time Ive noticed this...

Wowie!
As you stated, massive raving about the power/handling/braking of other M's w/the same "running gear" as our beloved Z4M's.... Does this "omission" constitute the lack of $ value on the Z4M market today? Removing the recent used car valuation increase, has the Z4M value increased over time?

Prior I think it was leveling off from any rise. Compared to 2 years ago Z4MC have risen 10k of equivalent miles/condition to present. Non M e86 have gained 6-8k over the last year from when I picked mine up. Those values are based on my never ending obsession on CarGurus. BaT is a whole other story. There’s not really haggling down going on from what I’ve seen. Roadsters I’m seeing have seen lower price gains to the current market maybe 2k raise from 5 years ago to now on a Z4MR. I had looked at a z4mr at a local dealer 8 years ago listed originally for 17k sold for 15 and an equivalent now is listed at 18k on CarGurus.

As a Z4MR owner of a pristine, OCD cared for and tastefully modded example, it is still chilling to know my ride is worth less than a new sub-compact throw away Kia....

I know the feeling, with the amount put into my 03. But then again the giddy childish smile every time I drive it is priceless.

Well said -
Amen to that....we chose this platform based upon the brand/style/performance/uniqueness/ultra-low production and as you said, the visceral excitement of turning the key and hearing/knowing you just started the last of the true analog, normally aspirated and highly refined M powerplants.

Its happened again! I just watched a new British" Top Gear" with a salute to the 50th anniversary of the BMW M cars. One scene shows pretty much all the M's but I do NOT see the Z4M- just the clown shoe Z3M with the others. This is getting to be too common and insulting. On a positive note they drove Porsches that run on carbon neutral synthtetic fuel. Maybe we still have a future?

Sebastian Vettel drove a 1992 Renault F1 car running on synfuel at Silverstone over the weekend. F1 is committed to full use of renewable source fuel for the 2026 season.

There are lots of others they didn't mention, it wasn't an anti-Z4M segment. There wasn't even a mention of my beloved e34 M5 (either 3.6 or 3.8 model). |
