Good stuff, these look very similar to Turner's solid subframe bushing kit. I replaced mine with them last year and noticed a big difference response.

Turner Monoball race Rtabs.

It's taken you are long time to upgrade these for a build of this level?

I got the pre-sealed versions from Turner a while ago before they came out with this latest version and they have been great. I am sure you will love them. There are a must-have for not that much money. The fun part is getting out the OEM rubber bushing if indeed that is what you still have in there.

Hi Vanne, I like the snakes alive uprights!
BTW I fitted a cabin blower for sending air to me, and also one for the fuel pumps, fortunately I sourced a manufacturer over here in the UK, that does heated front screens. I too was concerned about misting up on rainy days, had it before in other cars, really frustrating.
Pleased you are making good progress with your project, looks pro!

Vanne,
I ordered a heated wind screen from Ricky Evans Motorsports for my E46 M3, they list one for the e86 as well. Shipping is the issue. I ordered mine with a local group by to save on shipping. It works great, you cannot see the fine mesh unless looking diagonal thru the screen. In the Pacific Northwest, we have lots of rain.

Car looks good. My wide body exhaust is nearly done and the SLR control arms have finally arrived. I will post pics in the near future on another thread.

Thanks, Appreciate it. Lots of work has gone into it, with lots more to come. I am actually very much enjoying the build process, aside from missing this complete season, that bit sucks.

Ill stay with my oem windscreen, as my dash still has the defogger holes at the front, with the air channels (which ill leave in and attach them to the blower i purchased with a simple blower and reostat switch/dial on the dash. I am hoping that will sufice..

cant wait to see some pics of your SLR arms installed.. Ive had my kit now over a month, but i lack the weld skills required to fit it so will get my shop to do it when its down there. It kinda anoys me a little as its holding up a few things as ill need to know what size wheel spacers to buy, as it will push the hub out by up to 15mm.. but nfi exactly how far untill its installed..

just another few "too hard right now" items to go on the list.

I just wanted to comment on the boot lid and how Flossman has intergrated the wing upright joiners. Itys actually very nice hiow they haved done it and its very strong, being an intergral part of the layup. Pretty darn glad i requested them to do this as looking at it now there is no way in hell i could have done that myself... no way... that just goes to show what a quality product flossman has provideed me with.

pretty darn happy so far with thier fittment and panel quality.

Thanks Skiddy, your comments are always appreciated and i bet you'll laugh when i show you pics of the splitter adjustment/fitment, as i pretty much stole that idea from your car.

I am still at the moment waiting for an extra 4m length of chromoly pipe for the car to show up as then the car needs to go back to the weld shop for the rear strut tower re-inforcement and rear strut bar to be welded in and be made an intergral part of the cage. I also have 2 front window brackets that still need to be welded in, and a few other little bits here and there.. Interior paint shop will follow after that.

I also have to dummy fit the drivers side/pax side feet rest and see how that works , and to see if i have to make a platform for that to sit on.

A bunch of other crap to be done no doubt.. lol

Hi Vanne, Pleased the photos were of help!
The rear wing upright mounts are probably a copy of the Motorsport setup, it is really good, and I missed having that strength when I had a wing on the steel boot lid of my GT4 ZMC. I'll see if I can find a photo.

This pic also shows that I fitted the dash back in, although it has to come out again untill the cage is painted. Mirrors frikking tiny, but looks very mean when on the car. I test fitted those on the upper door yesterday before heading off to Geneva. I'll probably drill in the door to socket /weld the mount in from the underside, that would be much much cleaner..and I would think stronger too. At any rate, lots going on. Apperently the new springs are arriving today at DriftHQ, and they will ship them together with the missing upper control arm parts. I ordered a set of helper springs/spring seats too, just to keep the flange in place when there is no load. (Thanks Andrie)

Estetically were getting there slowly... Then it's mechanical and tuning.. man, were a long way from home...

Hi Vanne, you probably have noticed that a big chunk of plastic needs removing on the back of the headlights, to clear the tyres, well it did on mine! Also lock limiters on the steering rack, to stop the tyres hitting the arches. I know it depends on tyre size, suspension geometry etc., trial and error.........I am having flashbacks!!!!!

Skiddy, lol haven't look that far yet, but just noticed that I'll need to trim the front quarter guard mounts.

Off to the cage shop for rear strut bar/mount re-inforcing (due to rear coil over)

Cage getting the cross bar and guards getting cut /welded a bit.

Finishing off the cage and rear strut bar/rear strut mount re-inforcing.

Rear strut bar in place

The whole strut tower wrapped/re-inforced. With just two pipes left to weld to the rear cage bars from the strut tower.

Closer up.

Top view.. here you can see the initial top mount steel re-inforcing plate from AKG, and then shows how the side nicely wraps around.

These were the plates before welding.

Will need sand blasting before paint.

It's interesting to me that you lose weight by yanking out interior bits, only to gain at least some of it back in the form of hefty steel reinforcements. Hopefully you'll still see a significant net weight loss.

Yep, that's why instead of carbon steel, I've gone for chromoly. More exy, but way lighter than CS.

WOW! That is coming together! So nutty to see the inside completely stripped. Can't wait to see how this ends up. Will you have it on the track this season?
