Center console sos emergency roadside buttons
I found a part that bmw sells to replace the buttons as a coin holder of some sort and installed it since my sos is no longer functioning or of any use. It is much cleaner look and has purpose. Cost was only 25 shipped to me. If anyone is interested part number is 51-46-7-073-533
Did any z4 come with these stock? |

If you didn't have the BMW assist option, you got the oddments tray in place of the button. Over the years, many people have swapped out the button for the tray. I swapped mine awhile ago and it was ~$17 from my local dealer. I'm surprised they're still available since AFAIK, they only fit E85/86 cars. |

Installed this shortly after buying current Z4M in late 2018. BMW Assist in these cars is dead now anyways, zero reason to keep the old switch panel. It operated on the old Verizon analog network, which was shut down some time ago.

A few years ago I had a problem with the SOS switch failing. The entertainment system would be playing and then all of a sudden it would cut out. The only remedy was to turn off the ignition and turn it on again. Then it would start doing it again. It was driving me crazy! I did some troubleshooting and unplugged the SOS switch and the problem went away. Apparently it was shorting out, causing the car to try and make an SOS call, which cuts out the entertainment system. I removed the switch, taped the ends of the switch wires, and replaced it with the "oddments tray".
