You are spot on and 100% correct.

I can't believe this thread is still going on. The fact remains that every kid in America should learn the value of the dollar at a very young age. They are the future leaders of America.

Honestly a 1999 Honda Civic SI, 2001 Honda S2000 or this Z4 3.0 is in the same under $15000 class of car. Fact. A manager at In and Out Burger in California can afford something like this and nothing wrong with that as they work their ass off.

I say let the father be. I probably would do the same thing for my daughter, IF she was getting great grades in college or graduated with her AA or BA. Hell I would probably give her my $40k-$50k X5. LOL

My daughter still does not solo in this car (or any car). She's just not ready. Getting close though.

So, you secretly bought it for yourself a year ago? Now we know why you fought so hard.

This. I have run into so many people that would swear my z4 is a 30k - 40k current year car.

When I tell them "Hell, you can have it for 20k right now " they look at me like I'm crazy. I recently had a the car fully detailed and then repainted the front and trunk and took it to a concours event and had the staff thinking it was some limited production rare BMW. Funny what some cleaning up and tastefull mods will do to a car lol.

Come on parents. Lets teach our next generation correctly.
Not saying she doesn't deserve it, but my 20 yr old has given up asking

Got any recent pics of the car? I recal that you were doing some extensive detailing last time you posted pics, and the car looked amazing as a result.

Cheers!

That would happen to me all the time too after a good cleaning. Something about a shiny red roadster that conceals its age. Just looked awesome

Here's a pic from June 15th, 2013 Birmingham Cars and Coffee - an 8-10AM Saturday morning cruise in. Mostly tuners, few modern modified, every so often an exotic. There was a guy there with a Z3 that was real proud of his ride.

I keep the car fairly clean. Still using Zaino for wax. Easy to apply, lasts good enough, and makes a good shine. I've reapplied the Leatherique Rejuvenator oil just once since my major detail. I used the Pristine Clean probably every other month just for spot cleanup of the leather.

I just put on some Pilot Super Sports. Much better ride to get rid of the run flats. Safer for the kid too. Those run flats would jerk you all over the road.

She has now soloed in the car. Just very short 5-mile drives and no solo in heavy traffic yet.

We've moved close to the Barber Motorsports Park. I should see if they have a class for her.

Thanks for asking,
AA6

Looks fabulous, as I expected it would!

Your daughter is very lucky inded to have you doing this for her, and ensuring that she drives responsibly (most of the time). Good on ya! I hope to follow your lead when my own kid is old enough to ask for the keys in about 5 years.

Cheers!!

We're still doing pretty good. This is her Senior year. The 2008 Z4 will be for sale in Summer 2015. It's just not the type of car that should sit in a dorm parking lot. This pic will be for her yearbook.

My Hot Rod is doing great too. I've been to the Detroit Autorama, Atlanta Motorama, Goodguys Nashville, Hot Rod Reunion Bowling Green (pictured), and local events every Saturday.

Wish my parents would it got me a z4 too when I was 15 or 16 they got me a used old car till it die. They got me another old used car till it die. They got me a bit more new car (04) last pretty well but was not sport at all. Till I turn 21 and bought my 08 Z4MR. Now I want a Z4MC too. Probably my next car.

Totally agree with dorm lot opinion. No. I'm glad you're both doing well and enjoying the car. Still looks fabulous!
