Do you have your window sticker for the car? Or the build sheet from the dealer? (if not you can ask them for it, It will tell you how the car was built from the factory)

You have the leather running up the windshield pillars? Over the top of the window frame? and FULL leather door covers? exactly like mine with the stitching?

No there is no leather on the windschield over runn . Ther eis leather in the middle of teh doors....greay and above/below it it is leatherette.
We got Snow today here, so I will take pictures of the whole interiror in 2 days

Ok then no you don't have EXTENDED leather,
You have "leather" just not extended leather

Great photos and description of a beautiful car (best color combo for Z4M!).

I happen to be a "soon-to-be new Z4MR owner," and I won't have EL to look forward to. Fortunately I happen to love the design enough that I don't think it will bother me. One feature that stands out for me, as with the OP, is the steering wheel. Just feels and looks great if not perfect! Thankfully it is finished beautifully with leather and M-stitching. I'll let you know hopefully by Wednesday, I should get the car.

Total cost for retrofit: $11494

Makes $2700 for the option of extended leather seem cheap!

I can also provide part numbers for those who want them
I assume those prices don't include labor? Man, I would love to have the leather door panels!!

Awesome pics and write-up OP, very good to know what's out there on the Z4 for potential shoppers.

later i saw an M with extended leather and found out what it is, but by then its was too late to modify the order : (

so now i just have to live with an M Roadster without extended leather... if you can call that living .. ( haha just kidding ) I guess whenever i think about the EL I'll just remind myself that i saved 3500.
any decent shop can retrim your pieces in leather that's the same as BMW uses (exactly the same) and the hoops will not cost you 1500 usd, that's just insane, lol. It's just such a little amount of leather to use. Really if you want it, shop around from those guys who do custom interriors. Shure it will be a bit pricey and car will be out of your hands for a week or so, but if you want extended leather, do not go to BMW and retrofit, just buy another car, it's very expensive to retrofit pretty much ANYTHING.

11100 for retrofitting is idiotic lol. You can get ful interior done for few grand. FULL. seats included.

The Retrofit numbers were just meant as a shock
not as a "idea"

Since making this thread I also re-trimmed my door handles in carbon fiber fabric
So here are some pics of that,

I also added the ///M Tri color to my factory boot by hand by removing the stock black threads and replacing them with the ///M colors as per steering wheel,
Its actually a much better match than the pictures show! I need to take some new pics to show the better detail! You can see the colors even appear to be different in each photo,
This was taken outside in the sun with the top down and I think that interfered with the colors,

I also added one of my own "Lighted ZHP's" in the stock amber color,
Also need some better pics of that, The knob in the more recent tri color pictures is my "new" lighted ZHP which used the newer M3's internals and is MUCH better, Pics added are of the old version I used to make

But anyway here are some pics,

You can see its a pretty good match to the steering wheel thread,
So two shots for that perspective, One focusing on each

and finally another distance shot

and the lighted ZHP

The stitching is wonderful and is one of the best mods I have ever seen. You must have spent allot of time on it. How did you stitch that by hand? Remarkable!

Yes all done by hand,
Removed the stock black stitching, and loop by loop replaced it with the M colors

If anyone wants it done let me know, I have a ton of M colored thread left over!

Lovely! I am looking at roadsters for sale now and every time I see this thread I keep thinking how nice it'd be if one with extended leather popped up for sale.

Worth it....the price of admission to see this car in person would be worth it...outstanding.

And yes...now that I know what this is, I am kicking myself for not even looking at a Z4 with it!
