I'm old enough to remember when a racing stripe on an MGA or TR-3 was just about the coolest thing a person could do their car.
I like it. |

I had a pair of stripes down the middle of my 1955 T-Bird back in the mid 60's. Zee42's look a lot classier than those did.....

OH you had me scared for a second that it might be a pin stripe on the side, WHEW.
Your stripe looks good!

So, your tastes are evolving, zee42. First the "no more stinkin' badges," and now "stripe it stripe it stripe it!!!"

I think it looks great! I always loved the look of wide shelby style stripes (like on the old Cobras and Shelby Mustangs).
Any Photoshop gurus out there willing to lay down a pair of wide white stripes on a black Z4 roadster and give it that Shelby Cobra look?

Zee42 - Props for having the balzz to try this.
It looks much better than I would have imagined (having lived through the muscle car era ) It was a great choice to go tone on tone, rather than a different colour. It's not something I'd do, but it flat out works.

It was a bit of a challenge to make the decision to add the stripes, as the only "Z" I have ever seen with stripes has been on the track. But after sitting in the driveway with a pair of aviation snips and cutting the whole back out of it to install the dual exhaust panel .........stripes, were NOT that big a deal
It's a great diet plan to head for the back of your "Z" and take a pair of snips and start cutting it up.....you can lose at least 20lbs in an afternoon!!!!

I was thinking of doing something similar, but dang maldives blue just doesn't lend itself to striping. Maybe i'll try vinyl first, can always tape it on and see.
Thanks, you've given me courage.

I like it. I think I would like it more if it was wider, say about 12-15", but I like it. I would not have thought to do that, but it works!

on the contrary takedown, the grill badges represent the origins of my wifes family-(England)..and my family on my fathers side (Germany). Americans,if you remember your history, did not come from America,we stole it from the Indains and called it ours,as did the Canadians

That's cool about your car. It's like you're driving a family tree around...English badge on a German car with a big, intrusive American muscle-car style stripe down the center! |
