And of course , his A$$ was saved by the RED FLAG as usual...

LeClerc was loosing pace and it was only a matter for time.
A race leader leader doesn't let off if there's no need but the chaser could back off and try again at a more appropriate spot. It's not the first time HAM has attempted an aggressive pass on a dangerous part of track.

Tell that to everyone who has let Max by knowing he would cause a collision if they didn't.

Lewis and everyone else normally gives Max extra room because they know this.

Max doesn't have this foresight and it costed him this time.

Wolf and hammy must be pleased that it'll cost RB as much to fix as their Imola wreck, difference is RB didn't cause Imola one so the two devils advocates satisfying themselves barking up the wrong tree with support from MIB Masi.
Checo better sort himself out as he is not giving support to the back end of chassis

In this respect the rules ought to be tightened up with stricter penalties whoever's fault it is and things looked at in a different way with regards to the ''FIA for road safety'' logo in mind. Another panel to deal with serious crashes rather than the standard one as HAM's penalty in this case is a joke.

Plenty of race leaders have backed off or will for a number of reasons. Just because you are in front of somebody doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want or should. You guys know there are rules etc and are just being extra emotional/silly, even by your two standards.

Not sure if that would help to be honest. Essentially what you're proposing is that if the outcome of an incident is seen as big or catastrophic regardless of how small the incident is leading to said outcome, there should be harsher penalties. Theres a reason why stewards judge based on how and why the contact occurred and not the resulting damage is because it's too unpredictable. We have seen accidents where wheels and tires fall off with the slightest of touches but are deemed racing incidents.

Yesterday's incident is not a good example to suggest a rule change because one didn't forcefully cause the accident. You can argue position on track but you can make that argument every race weekend because the racing line is never perfect when you have 2 or more nearby.

Can the rules be more consistent? Sure because some say HAM was at fault, others have deemed it a racing incident so clearly there is misinterpretation in the rules somewhere to have split opinions.

Not really, Schumacher / Villeneuve crash in 1997, Schumacher was disqualified from the championship because of his dirty move on Villeneuve. If this was deemed a dirty move then they can use that punishment here.

Racing isn't as dirty as it was back then.

Some light reading for you newbie F1 fans:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997_European_Grand_Prix

"Schumacher/Villeneuve collision

The Curva Dry Sack corner, the scene of Villeneuve and Schumacher's collision on Lap 48.
Before the race at Jerez, the president of the FIA, Max Mosley, had promised to issue penalties to anyone who tried to influence the outcome of the championship.[13] Race stewards reviewed video footage of the collision between Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher and determined that it was "a racing incident" and took no further action against Schumacher.[20] However, Schumacher was subsequently summoned to a disciplinary hearing by the FIA and on 11 November 1997, it was announced that Schumacher would be disqualified from the 1997 World Championship."

Checo's QF , Sprint-race and race were a joke !
If Checo would have been on the second start-row . The whole race had been completely otherwise...

Checo has to exit ..."Kevin Magnussen" should get that Red Bull seat ASAP !

Yep Red Bull personnel were taken to the scene and no one was allowed to touch the car until they deemed it safe to do so (battery pack etc).

The racists statements started immediately after the collision and only ramped up after Horner and Darth Marko added their 2 cents worth. There were even RB personnel who had to remove posts from Twitter on the subject.

Thanks Horner and Marko!!

These have been two of the worst weeks for racist behavior in sports in recent memory.

LH is a much better driver than I or others I'm guessing ever even imagined. He somehow managed to knock VER out without major damage to his car or crash himself. While knowing he had Masi in his back pocket to fix what damage he did have during the red flag. Further knowing he'd only get a ten second penalty that he 100% knew he could recover from and still win.

Truly next level stuff.

And the idea is not for fans to take things to this level, but when it happens, it is time for serious reflection on how worthwhile the battle really is. Sheesh.
