Replacement spring

Does anyone know if the spring is servicable? I’d like to repair mine as the previous owner sealed it shut with electrical tape.

You can pry the whole unit out with something that won't scratch.

There's a retaining piece that goes above the headliner. I had a horrible time re-installing mine. Never really got it right.

Ah, the metal frame that is crimped on, yes, what a pain that was to get off and back on without bending the crap out of it.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I have my sunglass holder down. My little latch mechanism seems to work fine, but it doesn't catch the 'lid' correctly. Perhaps these deformed over time and that's why they are falling?

I'm experimenting with magnets and thin steel to hold the unit shut, but the distance for the magnets is super far.

I say all that, but what I'm really looking for is has any ingenious members of zpost figured out how to modify these sunglass holders so they continue to function as sunglass holders?

But that is the point of this whole thread, it never functioned as sunglasses holder in the first place, even after you find some way to keep the lid close.
It might hold a child's plastic sun glasses but that's about it.
