Are the doors interchangeable between coupes and roadsters? The only difference being the glass?

Thanks for all the great detail and time spent on installing all of the door componenets. Following your work is 1000X better than tranlating the TIS

One thing at a time. I will not make any plans until the fall anyway. I have to get SSN-781 finish first.

Cant wait until the car is all back together. It seems that these cars are very modular. It makes for quick fixes in times like these.

Update

Still in CT and going home on Friday.

I received a call from the paint shop that they needed to talk to me about the rear bumper. It seems they found some damage that was not apparent to my eye and they recommend that I replace the bumper.

So, I need a new bumper. That's another $500.00.. Sometimes the bottle turns the wrong way....

2/15/2012 Update 7:

Received the new rear bumper from the painters today and installed it minus all the add-ons and extras.

Hard mounting the front bumper tomorrow for the next step.

Taking the car to the body shop on Tuesday so they can polish all the new pieces they painted. This is the reason that I did not install any reflectors or grills and such...
The newly painted parts look stunning.

I am taking the car up to the shop without the left headlight installed. Contemplating removing the right headlight for the body shop to do their work. The body shop is only five miles away so it is not that big a deal, but I am going to have to tape my license plate to the rear window for the drive over....
A new rear bumper does not come with any plate mounting holes so I don't want to rush this.

Painted the four corner reflectors/lights with the first coat of white. I will smooth that down with 0000 steel wool and put one more coat of white, let it dry a couple of days then apply the clear.

Since one of the kidney grills was trashed, I ordered blacked out grills from a supplier on Ebay. Half the cost of OEM grills. They look awesome. Good quality.

Ordered a new left headlight. $875.00 OUCH...
This is just the headlight shell. All the internal electrical components must be transferred from the old light to the new one.

Once I get the car back, then I have to pull both bumpers off to install all the other parts and pull the interior door card so I can mount my wing mirror. Then I start on mounting the splitter to the front bumper. Then have an alignment performed.

Almost ready to drive.

Yesterday, I took the car up to the body shop for polishing of the new paint. The bumpers were empty on the car (no extras installed) and the headlights removed. Side mirror not installed.

This was done to help the guy in the polishing, to make it easier. They really did an outstanding job. Looking at the front of the car it looks like an empty skull driving down the road.

This is the first time I have driven the car since Nov. GOD IT WAS GREAT. Since it was cold and the oil temps never got up to 180' for the short trip, I never took it above 4000RPM.. sucks.... But it was still great. Driving a real car. Driving the Roadster is NOT the same...

New headlight should be here in a few days or so.

When I get the car back, the bumpers come back off and all the extras get installed into them and to mount the splitter and maybe to figure out how to mount Ians plexiglass. I have to pull the interior door card to install the OEM sound dampening material I forgot and to put the side mirror on.

That black sticky material used on the internal of the door that no one knows how to get.... Talking to the parts guys at BMW, it is called DUM DUM and they get it at NAPA. It's called 3M Windo-Weld Ribbon Sealer.

After all that, it will be a good time to do a paint correction on all the other parts of the car, seal it with Wolfgone DGPS and lay down two good coats of Dodo Diamond White Hard wax.

The wheel refurbishers are coming out on Sat. (they have a mobile van) to look at the wheels. I am worried that the front one might not be perfectly straight, although it drives fine. They can fix this..then make them look like new. I have seen their work. Stunning.... all this from a panel truck....

My wife who followed me out to drop off the car, remarked "I bet you loved that, just to drive it again. How was it?"

I looked at her with hooded eyes and said in a low growl. "Soonnnnnn"
She just laughed....
