It would have to be an LED

From what I understand I will be able to tell the car not to issue the "light out" warning lamp for LED's being used so yes thats a possibility,

Do you happen to have the specs for the type of bulb that's currently in there? Maybe I'll buy both, a LED and a whiter H7 or H11 (whatever's in there) and see which works / works best?

after reading this, i may stick with the stock bulb. i don't mind getting my hands dirty but like you said, LED -> error code, and 20w bulb is marginally better, and not sure how sustainable it is in the long-run if it gets too hot.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=417609

i'd risk it if the outcome was much better looking but doesn't seem worth it in my opinion. jamie let me know what day works for you. i'll just stick to amber delete & nav accept off.

Yeah I don't think upgrading the bulb would work out
TBH it looks a lot brighter without the amber surrounding it anyway,
you can clearly make out the ring when you do the euro coding and delete the amber,

Should be all setup either this week or next,

Thought I would give this thread a bump as I need help.

I just went to a local shop to see if they could euro code my m coupe. The tech told me that its possible but he needs to know what configuration to change. For example, if the car read H343L5317 he would need to know which characters represent the lighting system and what to change it to. So if in my example the "L53" represented the lighting system he could change it to "L52" or whatever the european code is. Does that make sense? Help is appreciated!

According to THE SPREADSHEET its in the FRM/NFRM module the function value is SIDEMARKER_US_* and the value to change it to is "nicht_aktiv".

Thanks azadian but isn't that list for E9x vehicles? I suspect their coding system may be a little different...

I could imagine their coding system is a little different. However, the words for "not active" in German probably aren't going to be any different. Worst that can happen is you look for the particular code in that module and it's not there.

Bump, so I found out that our cars need an adapter on the end of the cable - the same one used for e46's (unlike the e90's). By using this adapter, the software is able to communicate with our cars (last time I attempted this, I was't able to get the software to recognize the DME).

So my next question is, what are the actual settings to delete the amber strip? I played around with a few, and I was only able to get rid of the middle bulb, but still had amber light up on the ends. Jamie, anyone?

I'd love to know the answer to this question... Been trying for months to get this done but the only coder here in Indy doesn't know how.

Starscream, whatever happened with this?
