Agency headers. No EGT bung?

I just ordered a set of Agency Power headers. Of course instead of looking first i looked later and discovered there is no EGT bung on these. Has anyone ran headers w/o plugging in the EGT. Would it work? I really don't want to cut up my stock headers to get the bung and then turn around and chop up new headers to weld it in.

Not sure what to do. I still have time to cancel the order and get something else. Dammit wondered why they were only $750.

How do you know for sure? Don't see why euro e46 and csl headers would fit z4m's, but aftermarket e46m headers wouldn't. Doesn't quite make sense...

Called Agency Power. He confimed they would not fit without banging in an inside fender. Same with Fabspeed. Evosport and AP's are just knockoff's made in China anyway. AA's are enginnered in house and sourced out also. But they have a high quality inspection before accepting any lots that are made for them. Not sure about ss's

Thanks for the parts list, I need to start assembling this stuff for my install. I guess I need to look up the part diagrams but what's the necessity of the valve gasket?

I believe its for the air breather(emissions valve that you have to disconnect to get to the heat shield. Wasnt sure if ness but saw where others had ordered. Better to have everything onhand. Also ordered my Turner underdrive pulleys today too $229.

I know I'll probably need some copper antiseize stuff for the exhaust bolts. Not sure if I put it on the manifold studs. The TIS says I should. Probably need some U-joints and 3/8 extensiuons from sears. Someone "borrowed" my 3/8" u-joint.

So next weekend I'll be installing headers, new Vanos filter,RE Tranny mounts,Turner underdrive pulleys on PS pump and water pump. This is only if I have my DME back for the install. Sending it off next Monday. (taking Beemer to the drags).

Just so you know, the AA headers come with gaskets and nuts. So you could probably sell those to someone who gets SS

I find this surprising...
I thought the Z has more room than the E46 M3

Just took there word. The last thing I wanted to do is take off oem,try to put on the new ones then do it again. Then play the refund/restock game. Took their word that they wouldn't fit. Said they tried. I think the heatshield was involved...

Was at a meet Saturday and the e46 guys did comment on the amount of room I had in the engine compartment on the header side.

They will fit.... I had my JVT headers next to my friends AP headers for this e46 M3 and they were identical except for the quality on the AP header was much better. So if the JVT headers fit my car the AP headers should fit your car. FYI his AP headers didn't have the EGT bung but the shop that did the install on his car didn't install the EGT probe.

Yeah I think the problem is with the heat shield, you may have to do something special with that for them to fit.

I do think you have to chop it up a bit. Not my cup of tea. Agency said I would have to probably bang in the inside of the car a bit for it to fit, they didn't seem to sure either way. I want to be able to put her back stock if or when I get rid of her. Guess someone will have to be a guinea pig.

If it is the heat sheild I am thinking it is it is the one on the motor mount. You dont have to cut it but just bend an super small piece down.... its maybe about a quarter of an inch of sheet metal. It only took me one hit of a small hammer to bend it into position. I will see if I can grab a pic of it this friday when I install my Rogue Engineering short short shifter.

Edit... found a pic of the heat sheild on RealOEM. It is number 7 in this pic. Although I think my heat sheild didn't quite look like that one.

Let me know how that goes. RE seems to make some good stuff. May go for that next since my FI fund has a ways to go still. Took a big hit with these headers. But I think you need some good headers with FI anyway.

I am hoping to swing by the shop tomorrow and pick them up. Both my borther and I grabbed one at the RE open house this weekend. They just had to make them since they had none in stock
