Ok guys, mine is not a daily driver, but it does get out at least once a week during the summer and during the "terrible" winters we have about every other week. It's not so much that I don't want it getting wet, my worry is more about the idiot drivers who don't know how to drive in the wet. For those days I have an older Ford Expedition...but I digress. Is going with a light weight battery practical with my level of usage or should I find another project?

If you don't mind hooking it up to a trickle charger when it's parked you are fine. I would've kept that up but I accidentally hooked mine up backwards when it was out of the car and fried it.

I've let mine sit for over a week with no problems. I think you should be fine if it's just a weekend toy.

Good idea. How about a Google Doc with some defined columns where folk's can input their data, and that can be summarized in a thread?

Columns (please feel free to add):

Battery Name
Battery Type (Li, etc.)
CCA
Weight
Needs daily driving (or trickle) Y/N
????

Maybe:
Average time between drives or charges that car started reliably?
Longest time between use without drive/charge that car started reliably?

There may be issues with installing a Litium Ion battery in our cars.
I saw this in the September issue of Road & Track:

Neither can I. Need to replace the originals, think I'll just go with the O'Reilly.

I got the O'Reilly because I figured that next time around lithium should cost half as much. Or at least I'm hoping it's significantly cheaper.

Update, I've had my Deka 11.5lbs battery for exactly a year now, with no big issues. I let my car sit at the airport for about 5 days in cold weather, and it cranked a little slow, but fired up on the first try
