Outside temperature

I purchased a used 2003 Z4 2.5i that was used to run drugs. They tore apart the inside to hide drugs and they trashed the suspension trying to escape the cops. I am working on fixing it up. The problem I'm having right now is with the AC. The outside temperature is reading as -40 degree F. It hasn't moved since I bought the car. The AC doesn't blow cold air. It is charged. Any thoughts?

the sensor wire(s) running thru wheelwell to front bumper is likely disconnected or damaged.

There should be one of these sticking down in a pocket in the plastic piece under the front bumper in front of the driver side front wheel.

From your description I wouldn't be surprised if the entire plastic trim piece is gone, sensor and all.
Good luck with the project. Maybe you'll find a wad of cash hidden somewhere.

Were they successful or did they get caught?

I could never own that car down here near the border! I drive through Border Patrol checkpoints all the time, and they usually have a drug-sniffing dog walking around cars as they creep through. That thing is probably forever tainted to a trained nose like that.

That sensor should be an easy (if not particularly cheap) fix.

As KevinC said, that should be a straightforward fix if you are handy, assuming that the sensor is the culprit.

How is the car otherwise? I can't imagine that its previous owners were very kind to it. But maybe its finally found a home where it will get some much needed and deserved TLC.

I've replaced the tires, struts, tie-rods, sway bars and rear shocks. The top doesn't work. Replaced the stereo. Need to replace half the speakers. Still need to fix the top. Can't get trunk to open. Need to replace the front bumper. Might need to replace some hoses or radiator, I think I have a coolant leak. I filled it when I first got it a month ago and had to refill this week. Engine is running great. But I only paid $2,000. And it only has 120,000 miles.

Ditto . Weird about the trunk. Did you try the key in the trunk lock or just the button up front? Yeah I know, dumb question. Geez I hope there’s nothing wonky going on there too from the previous owners.

Google getting into trunk via rear trunk vent. You need to take rear bumper cover off to do so.

I've read numerous posts on gaining access to trunk via this method

Hmm, might want to video the trunk opening. If it is full of drugs you at least would have video evidence of its discovery.
