Good choice! This is the best intake for our cars, even better then a CSL box, Eventuri etc.

Really??? I just wanted some extra noise, power is negligible according to everyone else.

Done! Only took me an hour!

I've tried every intake, Epic Motorsports told me it's the best one. Only thing better is the Bimmerworld airbox but that's $$$$ haha still cheaper and better then the OEM airbox.

Well that makes me feel really good! Just went for a drive, the sound is incredible and it definitely pulls harder on the top end. I'm also running the rpi scoop. Money well spent imo.

Are you saying this cone filter mod is better than a CSL type carbon intake plenum?

Yup, on the dyno the CSL airbox lost a good amount of torque and changed the whole driving character of the car on the track...swapped to AFE, bam! Perfect car with torque! Apprently as Epic said, Eventuri is no good..which is why I swapped it out as well. His words, with proven dyno numbers.

CSL Airbox need Alpha-N tune to harness the horse power gain. It sounds like you don't have ECU tune.

It did, Epic did a Alpha-N tune, it gained good HP but killed TQ, plus it was done on my friends car. I sold my airbox once I saw that prior to install.

Z4M_GT3’s statements contradict everything I’ve learned here in the forums about a CAI for the M. Not saying you’re wrong, just saying I’ve seen dyno proof plenty times now where the Hp and Tq seem to be higher with a real airbox, even comparing Eventuri to Afe. I was going for Eventuri, now I’m unsure. Any data would be appreciated Z4M_GT3

I have no doubts as far as output, I guess every tuner says something different. OE tuning said AFE is crap get Eventuri, so I got it. Epic said it's crap so I got CSL, then Epic said it's crap unless it's the Bimmerworld box so I got AFE. It fluctuates I guess from tuner to tuner. Cause even with a OEM CSL airbox my friends car lost power with multiple tunes. A M3 with stock airbox did 335whp, and AFE on a Z4M did 330whp.. My personal opinion, CSL airbox with Cams and my previous ARH header setup with be PERFECT. But the overall cost for a small bump in power pushed me away. So I just did AFE with Euro headers. Cheers =)

ARH headers gave me big top end hp, but completely destroyed my low end. Under 6,500-7k rpm my car wouldn't move -_-

If you or your passenger can honestly feel the 1-3hp provided optimum conditions it's putting to the wheels, then kudos to you. Removing the sound dampener provided more of an interior cabin noise wow factor then the intake. Have yet to see a short ram or cai provide the ludicrous hp claims. It's one of those "I just did it bc" mods imo

Eventuri is fine too....go for it if you want....they give same results as AFE
No Dyno to compare but real life experience at the track.

Airbox is good..will give you higher HP. The only thing is in low rpm the torque is not as high but it picks up at higher rpm.

Ross not sure if this helps as I dont have experience with AFE or anything else but I have the Eventuri setup and I am happy with it. It looks great in place and I believe that it actually smoothed out the throttle response a bit. I cant say that i noticed any HP or torque gain or loss for that matter, but it looks and sounds good.

I have this same set up, north of 4K the sound is pure awesome...was not looking for performance gains rather than deeper sound

What is the consensus as to the best carbon box between BW and Evolve version? Are they any other manufacturers I have missed out?

The BW comes in 120mm and 200mm but the Evolve version does not specify.
