How often do you change your airbox filter?
Was ordering some stuff from Tischer and thinking about getting a new filter for the stock air intake while I'm at it. My car has 17,7xx miles.
I see that the "recommended" replacement for this isn't until inspection II, which seems like an awfully long time to keep the same filter in. I suppose I should probably just crack it open and see how dirty it is, but I'm wondering how often others here change theirs out. |

About 2x/year, or every 5000 miles.

i'm a bit embarrassed to be asking this question, but opening up the stock air box is as simple as unclasping the 4 metal hooks and cleaning the stock air filter that's sitting atop?

Yes, and I've found they don't really get that dirty. I vacuum out any leaves or other debris out of the box, knock off the dirt off the incoming side and put it back in. I usually get about 50k out of an air filter before it gets changed--which is consistent with BMW replacement guidelines.
