Yes the body kit looks like it fits tight, still not right...

A lot of work went into this! I respect what went into it, but I wouldn't buy a replica.

Bid is up to $23k for a 7 year old Z4 with a body kit and a salvage title? Some poseur really wants to be James Bond.

I wouldn't do it, and some changes to the interior should have been made, but it looks a lot better than many of those Fiero/Lambo things.....

As a owner of a 2003 Z4 Maldives blue with less then 27000 miles, and I would sell it for a lot less then he is pricing this replica, I am offended. But, he does do nice work, not just for me.

I agree that he does nice work, that definitely takes skill and time. However, as someone already pointed out, its a salvage title and I would definitely not feel comfortable driving around in it. Crash safety is compromised, and who wants to drive a fake Z8? Lame.

I think (from the pics) it looks very good, lot of thought and work put into this.
He builds a demo for his potential customers from a salvage car to keep his overheads down and now needs the space so has to sell, ok i can go with that, but he's trying to recoup his money with a OTT price. " and who wants to drive a fake Z8?" em, probably quite a few people that can't afford the ridiculous price of a geniune car and thats if they can find one for sale. This isn't a VW being a Porsche, Toyota being a Ferrari or Fiero doing a Lambo, it's a Bmw being a,,, well Bmw, maybe purists will frown. I appreciate the thought and work the guy put into this, but drop the price. I wouldn't buy it, but i never have been a fan of the Z8 anyway. |

definitely a nice job on the repro Z8. By why a 2.5? While it may be a BMW being a BMW, it really is not too far from being a VW being a Porsche, a Fiero being a Lambo or a Toyota being a Ferrari. There is a BIG difference from a Z4 2.5 and a Z8.
Let's face it - our Z4 ///Ms are a hell of a deal when you consider price vs. performance. I can afford to drive my '06 ///Mr as a DD. I love it - I can't believe the posts about the "too harsh ride". If you want a Caddilac ride buy a fricken' Caddy. If you want a true sports car buy a real sports car. I appreciate that my ///M roadie will out handle a 'Vette or a Viper. I also know that in a straight line I will be eating their dust. Go ahead an buy a Porsche Cayman S - you will get the same performance as one of our ///Ms. The experts say that the Cayman S is a bit more refined - I can accept that as truth. In the end I believe I get virtually identical performance for less money, when you consider the overall cost of ownership. Just a couple short years ago I could not afford to purchase my ///M as I have to have a different vehicle for winter here in New Hampshire. But, now that I can afford to have a different summer car as well as a winter car, I would definitely consider a repro Z8. It is very sexy. BUT, having those looks on something on anything less than a 3.0si is not worth the money they are asking in this particular auction. A SC kit and a full suspension kit on the 2.5 would at least make it similar to the Z8. Most of all, I would NEVER tell ANYONE I owned a Z8. It is and allways will be a repro. But, for the money, I would consider it. |

The original Z8
My guess is that NO Z owner would buy such a vehicle...BUT that Fisker Z8/Z07 (and Aston Martins) were sure stunning cars. Too bad HE didn't become the head of BMW auto design (rather than DesignWorks and then Ford design).
Freude am Fahren...

I look at it like I look at all the Shelby Cobra reps driving around out there, While they are kits, as long as they were done right and with respectable power train they are still very nice eye candy.
I have never met on owner who didn't mention right away that it was a rep and that earns them respect. I think it looks great and was a tasteful job. It is a sweet look whether it is real or not. Remember, there are some proper uses for replacement parts... |

Very strange, but the finish isn't bad.
It is still a freak of nature though.
