Awesome.. I just made some wood (2mm MDF and balsa/light pine/hardwood) panels (well so far only the pax side LOl), the saving on the bear oem door skin is from 3.2kgs down to 0.9 kgs.. (with alcantara still to be added), I hope these come out much lighter/easier. Not looking to compete with your skins as these are freakingly hard to make with wood, considering the layup for the door window rubber doesn't run in a straight line.
Looking forwards to how yours turn out. I also had considered doing them in sheet alu, but the windows arm rest is impossible to do in Alu unless you are a magician and have some serious skills. I think as your guy said, plastic would be a great medium to do this in.
