Hot! Hot! Hot!

So the Wife and I get in the car tonight to go to dinner for our 24th anniversary.
Car's been sitting in the Sun all day so it's about 120° inside.
I turn the air on, and of course, at first it blows hot.
I tell her "It'll cool off any second ... wait for it ... soon ... hmmm ... fells like it's getting hotter ... ho li fuk ... damn wtf that's definitely getting hotter ... crap, now that's broke, too."

With the engine off (for quiet) and the ignition on, I can hear a motor whir for about 15 seconds when I move the temp control, so the 'tronics seem OK.

Guess I need to pull gear motor #1.
Any good advice on how to get to it?
This is going to hurt my back, isn't it.

Unknown, but the compressor kicks in.
It's not just not blowing A/C, it's blowing proper heat, well above outside ambient.

Are those for opening/closing the vent blinds? If you adjust which vents are active via the control knob, does the air (al beit hot air) come out the correct corresponding vents?

Happy 24th, btw.

Thanks.
I think the one that failed is the hot/cold.
If I adjust which vents, hot air comes out of the requested ones.
Recirc works too.
I took the panel off below the glove box and had a rummage around, but no way to get to it from there. The whole dash has to come out.

Ironically, it's too hot in the car to work on why it's too hot in the car.

We're just old. She just hit 180k miles.
Front bumper cover looks nice though.

I need to spend Sunday in the middle of the Mojave.
Won't be the first time I've done it without A/C.

This might be a long shot. But when I first bought my Z, the A/C would blow hot. Turns out is was in transport mode. So did you disconnect your battery recently?

There are pressure gauges that can be used to tell how much refrigerant you have in the system. For sh*ts and giggles check it anyway? Just in case it actually is something simple.

Nope. Was blowing cold one day and hot the next.
And I think there's other strange things that happen in transport mode.
I'm just full of hot air. Everything else seems to be fine.

Yep. I'm going to take it some place and have the freon checked before I spend any more time on it.

No hurry. Not like it's hot out.

Thanks to fixherz4 I was reminded that instead of playing Destiny I have to get around to hooking up the laptop and see if DIS or INPA can give me a clue.
DIS wasn't much help, but INPA was, as it often is.
Temp sensors are good, temp control on dash is good, "Air manifold Rotary knob" is bad. Also mixing motor is stuck at 0.
Not sure what's "Air manifold Rotary knob", but I think this is pointing to the actuator motor.
Guess the dash has to come out.

Perfect opportunity to recover the dash in Alcantara

Gotta see the good in it.
