Electric cooling fan question
2007, Z4, E85, N52
Electric radiator fan has started periodic squealing noise. Looked up new BMW fans and was shocked by price of $500 =/- Anybody have any alternatives? Seen mention somewhere of other model BMW fans that cost about $200 and are same as Z4 unit. Also thinking of after market fan. Need about 3000-3500 CFM. Only concern is about if the factory one is a two speed fan. Any first hand experiences? |

Most places didn't build the aftermarket shroud that is unique to the E85 chassis - hence BMW has the stupid price for a replacement.
Anything you get (ECS, Turner, FCP) are all basically big fans, that you then have to retro fit with some screw in plastic lock rings and zip ties. It won't look OEM, but you can make it look nice and professional. -M |
