I bet you've never been in the north of Italy, on the Austrian border, in the region of Bolzen and the Brenner pass.
That's a region with primarily german speaking inhabitants (less than 25% speaks italian there) and they also feel themselves more Austrian than Italian.
That has also been a dispute between Austria and Italy throughout the years, but they settled on a signed accord in the early 90's.
Does that give Austria the right to come back on its word and start a militairy invasion? I think not!
This is exactly the same situation.
If a certain small area of a country has a large percentage of foreign inhabitants, that doesn't give a foreign country where those inhabitants are from the right to forcefully annex that piece of land, even if all those foreign inhabitants are for that in their own little referendum.

Yeah we'll agree to disagree as many countries did. Some think one way, some the other way. And that's ok.

No they're NOT!

Something tells me you dont even know where crimea is on that map

....Its DEFINATELY NOT pink on that map.

With russia invading crimea they violated their own signed accords from the early 90's and thus violating the borders of a souvereign state. In my book thats an act of war, stealing land from another country.

Most countries pretty much thought the same. Especially the free western democratic countries.

It doesn't matter.

It's like climate change or any other science-based rule: the majority doesn't matter.

Nobody is voting for or against things here.

That's the thing, who's oppressed? Crimeans got what they wanted.

Find the oppressed and then maybe we'll discuss their oppression.

No they didnt, only the russian part did, and even that is questionable as the options of choice in the referendum held were limited. That nice link you provided even says so. You forget about the other ethnic nationalities there.

At the formation of the ukraine and crimea in the early 90's, crimea voted to be part of the ukraine, with consent of the USSR back then.
Its like the example I provided of northern Italy. You don't see Austria marching in there do you?

Russia had no business to stage a militairy invasion there. Thats an act of war and simple theft of land.

Strange that you dont understand right and wrong as the vast majority of the world understands it.

Even China acknowledged the ukrainian territorial borders (but of course they abstain in UN votes as always on matters that don't concern them directly)

I was just in Bolzano this summer. Could have sworn I was in Germany/Austria. Definitely didn't feel like we were in Italy that's for sure.

Dear, could you give any examples of this military invasion? After all, if there is an invasion of the aggressor, then there must be some kind of defense? Battles, shootings, sacrifices were supposed to be?
After all, if the whole local population greeted little green men with flowers and built monuments to them - is there any strange military invasion?
