"On curvier roads, the Z4 takes more effort to drive as quickly as the Audi and the Porsche but returns less enjoyment." They did say it looks good inside and out tho. |

At that price I'd be getting an Ariel Atom and just using it like a motorcycle

Any car can be quick. Making a car quick and rewarding to drive is something BMW stopped with the E8* series

The SMG 6 speed on the E46 M3 wasn't any quicker to 60 than the manual 6 speed even with launch control. Oh wait, they're both 6 speeds. I see ow the math works, 7 speed must be faster. My bad. I can guaranteed that you will not see either BMW published numbers or magazine test data that shows the DCT 7 speed is faster to either 60 or quarter mile than the 6 speed. |

keep in mind these times aren't always repeat-able even with the same car, and magazines often "correct" numbers due to weather conditions

F-1 has gone to totally automated gearboxes precisely because it eliminates driver error and makes for a consistently faster car, regardless of the number of gears. I love my manual gearbox, but having driven a DCT equipped M3 I can tell you that is the best automated manual I have ever driven, the car ain't too bad either! |
