custom fiberglass lip
just curious before i persue this anymore. Would there be any interest for a custom fiberglass rear lip spoiler? Like the one pictured below, minus the carbon fiber (maybe with carbon fiber if there is enough interest). pm me or post your thoughts or any suggestions on style or if there would be an interest for a different body part (front lip etc..). Thanks!

For me, it's a little too much. The coupe has got such a distinct look from the rear and a lip like this changes those lines. I like the oem lip in general, although I'm not a fan of the center cutout. In all fairness, it may look much better when seen in the real as opposed to pics.
Good to see more aftermarket stuff for our cars.

how much would the fiberglass version be? Maybe I can have one of my friends who works at a body shop modify it for me. It should be pretty similar..no?

so similar to this? (i did this in paint so not the best. Hope you don't mind F360c)
Please give me any ideas that you would have. I can try and make something happen. If there is enough interest to pursue one ill make one. pajama, i don't think it would turn out if i made it for a coupe and then you modifyied it for a roadster.

If we get some more people (z4m roadster or m coupe) to be in I can see what I can do. Tell me if you would be in for a front lip spoile for $150-$200

I think black is OK...but don't know if I like how that just sticks straight out. However, it's the best I've seen yet for the M...even better than most full front bumpers I've seen.

I kinda like the Hamman front lip a bit. Something similar to that.
But Im more in it for the appearance than the functionality.

Just spent the last 30 minutes or so looking at the back end of my coupe. I think at this point I will leave it as is until I can actually see a car with an oem or similar type rear lip on it. To close to call.
Something for the front would be of interest, but might be difficult. I like the oe Z4M front, in particular, the notch/cut out in the middle section which allows the sides to sit lower.

^^^Exactly, I'd like to see a more pronounced ducktail, CSL-type rear spoiler for the M Coupe. Something that retains more of the existing trunklid's lines and could be molded in easily. An entire new rear hatch isn't practical for 95% of people interested in this sort of thing, but something that a competent bodyshop could integrate onto the stock piece could be pretty cool.
As for front lips, I think the Varis piece is the best-looking one out there. That, or the NKB M3-look front bumper. For performance-only, the carbon splitter on HBSpeed's and Palantirion's rides and some dive plates are all you need. Unless you want to go full-race and pick up the Geoke piece

Ok I'll spill the beans a bit as I have been working on developing aero parts for our cars for several months now and didn't want to jump the gun, but it looks like it’s time to come clean since interest is growing so fast. The splitter on mine and Palantirion's car (and soon Haretakis who picked his up from me today) is the prototype front splitter for what will soon be a production piece as many of you know who have been following the thread in the cosmetics section which also contains the pictures of my car: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...03#post5169603. It will be available in either fiberglass or carbon fiber. In addition, I am developing a replacement rear hatch that will also be available in either fiberglass or carbon fiber, have a plexiglass window, and have an integrated CSL ducktail. One reason I decided to move towards producing a full hatch as opposed to an add on piece is that the OEM rear spoiler is already available, and I believe looks great for what it is. The other problem with the add on solution is that there are many including myself who are hesitant to drill holes or use glue on our stock rear hatches, and most who would have already installed the OEM piece. The full rear hatch has the advantage of keeping the stock hatch untouched and protecting resale value. The weight savings will be enormous with this hatch but just as importantly it enables my other piece in development to make sense for a larger number of people, a carbon fiber rear wing. With an aftermarket rear hatch, the ability to drill holes to mount the wing I am designing or any other wing will be more acceptable for many. Likewise, the rear wing will also bolt directly on to the stock hatch for those that chose to do so.
Here are the threads where Palantirion discusses the positive results of the front splitter at Cal Speedway. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...185835&page=56 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=366300 This thread is Palantirion’s night photoshoot. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=368486 |
