Good info, thanks.
Doesn't surprise me. Love it or hate it, the GTR is a serious machine. So a BBK would be a waste of money from a performance point of view.

This is yet another reason why I chose Stoptech. They seem to be one of the more honest companies and build what a car needs rather than just something for looks.

Disclaimer: I am not saying other companies don't do this; I'm just speaking from my own experience with Stoptech

So the red Poly's huh? How bad is the NVH? Finnegan has said that the noise is like a tractor.. What's your opinion? I don't mind a bit more hardcore than most people are able to stand.. I only use the car on weekends and track use.

And I'm surprised you didn't include it in your mod list- are you planning on doing a writeup/ review later?

thanks again!

btw- any more pics of the car in its current state we can see? Need moar pics!

Thanks!

Yes, and the NVH is ridiculous.
Finn's descripition is dead on. I am building the car to be a "kinda" street leagal track dedication machince. The noise is not so bad with a helmet on, but on long trips it is terrible. If you are not going to change the motor mounts at the same time, Iwould not recomend the red.

I do have items that need to be updated in the journal. I am in the middle of a couple projects on the car right now. Once they are done I will update the post add som photos

Thanks Chris--it's always good to get confirmation of these somewhat subjective measures. If you're going to use the car 90% at the track you won't notice it much with the helmet on, and it's kind of like another way to gauge RPMs and shift points. But on the street it really detracts from enjoying the car IMO. I liked the shifter feel, but it the vibration/noise is unpleasant and grates a bit on the nerves (that's the opinion of several folks who road with me as well). It's not "too loud" as much as it's more like listening to a person who can't carry a tune--it's harmonically unpleasant.

Only thing I have to ask is about tranny/motor mounts.. The last 2 times I tracked the car, I lost second gear- and most people agree that stiffer mounts are the cure.. I hear the neoprenes are the way to go apparently, with the poly's being too hardcore..

Have you had issues getting into gear during track use?

thanks again!
what do you mean you lose 2nd? is it hard to shift into gear when the gearbox is hot or shifting hard?

Wow! What a mod diary! I wish someone would do something like that for the 3.0si. Then again, there isn't much you can do with it from what I've gathered being on here for the past week.

Your ride is pretty sick. How much money have you spent on your ride? It's gotta be close to $10,000 if not more.

Thank you,
The journal is outdated. I will complete an update in a couple of months

Depends on the purpose of the build. The kit adds more weight to the front of the car making it a little more difficult to corner balance. The torque and power of the S65 is very usable on the track and takes weight away from the front of the car. VT-3 would be difficult to handle. Straight line would be a ton of fun though.
I know the ESS car in Germany is killing the ring, but that project has unlimited $$$$$$$$ and driver's skill at a level I don't pretend to be at
If (BIG huge if) I ever reach that level, I could through the ESS kit one the S65 and still save weight

After driving my car and our E92 M3 at the track this weekend, I've come to the conclusion that at some point in the near future I need to get the time to start linking this together. The Z4M handled soooo much better, but that extra torque of the V8 helped make up for it on corner exit. Combine the 2....

Thanks, and a few questions...

Exceptional thread-- thanks! I bought an '07 M coupe about six months ago that's bone stock (love this car!), so I'm looking at some of the usual newbie stuff.

Questions for you-- the mods never included a strut brace or other bracing (or at least I didn't see them). I've reviewed the forums and opinions seem split (what a surprise, huh), but what's your opinion? Do you know whether that is a waste of time & money with a coupe?

Also, for the Eisenmann sport exhaust, I agree that (at least based on posted videos) the sound is way better than most other systems, albeit expensive. You didn't note any performance gain with that muffler change alone, did you? I know you did the headers first, but I suspect your research is pretty top flight!

Thanks again for the great post!
