One of our was broken, looks like it was with a knee from the prior owner. It's an easy install and fix DIY (for those out of warranty).

Found the parts @Tisher.

These actually look like a better bet--and they're pretty reasonable. Less that what the replacement from Tisher cost, and they look like they'd actually do a better job.

^had my driver's side replaced under warranty - would not ratchet anymore. in the process, they nicked my driver's side air-conditioning vent right next to the top screw. am ALSO getting a new driver's side air-conditioning vent, presumably under warranty, because of this. it seemed like a disappointingly shoddy job done replacing the cupholder.

You've got to be kidding me? Aside from using a plastic pry too to remove the screw cap on the AC vent there's like 2 or 3 screws total from what I recall. Heck, it was a 3 minute job. How the hell could they screw that up? Simply amazing.

^the plastic pry removal of the screw cap on my driver's side vent was really shoddy - twisted and deformed, as though they were struggling to remove it. then an albeit small nick from the screwdriver they used to remove the top screw. disappointing but i'm severely limited by choice of bmw dealerships. the only other dealership even remotely within comfortable distance is bmw of austin, and that's another extra hour of driving at least each way!

Yep, the ultimate cup holder is great. I broken two BMW cup holders before getting one. I've not used the BMW one in over a year.

Get your cupholders repaired and order two of the ultimate cupholders so that you'll never have to use and subsequently break the factory pieces again. As a rule, any cupholder that emerges from a dashboard is worthless.

I don't eat or drink while I drive, but I do need to transport food and drinks from time to time, so I need cupholders. I recall the ones in my 2003 Z4 being flimsier than the post-facelift ones - I've had no problems with my M Coupe. I replaced one on my old roadster myself - though it was still under warranty, the part was cheap and I saw the potential for screw-ups by the dealer, as seen above.

This is amazingly common(shoddy workmanship). I asked to have my wiper blades replaced under warranty last year and the monkey who did it (I could see him working from the waiting area so know it was in fact a "technician") managed to severely nick and gouge both of my wiper arms in the process(he just replaced the inserts). I had to get the dealer to replace both wiper arms as a result(under warranty). It is sad how poorly trained some of these guys are. If we were talking about a beat up 75 Chevy, no problem, but when a pristine late model car comes in to the shop, wouldn't it be logical to use a little care?
