Recaro Profi SPG. It will brush the door card with the widest point though as will most seats. It's a tight fit. You can use the size specs from the regular (not XL) SPG to compare fitment.

I strongly suggest spending a lot of time in the seat you're planning to buy. I find the Recaro comfortable even after 3 hours on the road. Not the case with some others.

Driver seat side bolster foam has separated from the frame. I'm getting zero support on my left side. I need to find a suitable replacement that will support me at all times.

I would say well I'll get some sport seats and call it a day, but finding even one that isn't >$500 is difficult. Plus I've read reviews about it not being supportive. Not that I'm tracking the car so I suppose it could work. But again the price.

Any custom shops who can repair? Intgr8r had his seats redone in alcantara and they looked awesome! Not sure on price though.

At the $500 price point, your choices for a quality adjustable seat are a bit limited.

If you absolutely want to go aftermarket, then my suggestion would be to troll CL, eBay and various forums for a nice set of Sparco R100 or R333 seats (see pricing below).

You can also go with other OEM seats like those from either an:
- E46 M3: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic...ilit=E46+seats
- Honda S2K: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=72750

- R100 $330 each New: https://www.sparcousa.com/r100
- R100 ~$500 set Used: https://cnj.craigslist.org/pts/d/spa...655452608.html
- R333 $525 each New: https://www.sparcoracing.com/r333
- OEM E46 M3 ~$250-$700 set Used: https://www.panjo.com/buy/e46-m3-hea...l-seats-367411
- OEM Honda S2K ~$400-700 set Used: https://longisland.craigslist.org/pt...663928580.html

check out Tillett seats, not a cheap option though, but you won't slide around.

Also as Finn said, Ian's seats turned out AWESOME!!

Lol, just read your sub 500 dollar mark, forget my recommendation.

Have the center pieces done in Alcantara/Ultrasuede. It will make a huge difference. While the covers are off, a good upholstery shop can repair the bolster.

I'm actually going to go the S2K route. I don't need electric or heated seats (Florida). I am going to have to find a set in good condition, fab some mounts like the guy in the UK did and call it good. Well I'll have to uncode the seat sensors.

Keep in mind then that the S2000, while similar throughout all production years is differentiated by AP1 versus AP2. The gentleman above has the AP1 seats which have the hole in the headrest. The AP2 seats are a little taller and do not have the hole. They are very similar seats but are a bit different. They utilize different rails and the seat belt receivers are different.

I'll be honest that I am not sure why you would go to the trouble of trying to retro fit them into a Z4. I owned a 2007 Honda S2000 which was an AP2 model. While it was a very fun car, it was not at all comfortable. While the seats have better bolstering than the standard Z4 seats, they are not comfortable after much time in the car. They lack sufficient lumbar support and basic padding. I would recommend that you find someone local with an S2000 and go for a long ride with them before going to all the trouble.

Good luck.

Id say invest in some proper seats/mounts, they ARE a safety device after all. If you cant do that, fix your OEM ones. That will be much cheaper in the long run. Seats are one cost, the mounting hardware is another. And then you have to code out the airbag light as the pax sensor/Pre tensioners wont be there. Do it properly, or don't do it at all.
