Finally Purchased z4 Coupe
Hi Guys,
Just purchased a z4 coupe and this vehicle is sexy. I’ve been looking for a while and finally found the color and interior was looking for. I noticed that there was a recent recall on z4 Coupe. Any concerns? I’m also unable to reset the tire pressure gage signal. Maybe when the previous owner replaced rims, the sensor was disconnected? Not sure. |

It looks super clean, congratulations! They're wonderful to own and make every drive an event.
Sadly, as far as I'm aware, we're still waiting on a fix for the heated PCV problem. |

Whoa, nice work on the paint, the tire pressure sensors were probably left out of the new wheels so the flat tire light on the dash is not going away. You will have to code it out using the INPA software.
I haven't heard anything about a recall so interested to see what others have to say.

If you have a 2007 or 2008, then the tire pressure system uses sensors in the wheels. I'd guess that either you have the wrong sensor in your wheels (looks like they're from a E92 335is?) or the battery in the sensor is dead. 2006 and earlier models used the wheel speed sensors to detect a flat.
For the PCV recall, only non-M cars with the N52 engine (3.0i and 3.0si) are affected. Here's the NHTSA release: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...2V119-2848.pdf

Welcome to the club…only open recall I can think of currently Recall 68809. Also, if the expansion tank hasn't been touched and is original, I'd look into putting a new unit in as preventative maintenance and piece of mind

On my E86 it's recall campaign no. 22V-119: PCV Valve Heater
Letter sent out back in April 2022. I had taken it in previously for the first fix, but the April letter stated: Unfortunately, after extensive analysis, your vehicle needs to have a new remedy performed. It went on to say there currently wasn't a fix and owners would be notified by letter when a fix was available. |

If you look between the intake manifold you’ll see it along with the connector plug so it can be unplugged for sure. My thing is, what’s the best way to get to it to unplug it. My hands are way to big to reach in between the manifold to get to it so is it a matter of pulling the intake bits or is there a simpler way, the member in Cali that said he unplugged his hadn’t posted pics or replied to just how he got to the plug. Manifold view (dirty 128) I’m wondering if the fires that have happened from it are from oil seeping around where it is and as it heats the system that oil ignited causing the fires. I’ve kept up looking for any oil residue every time I’m under the hood of either the coupe or my 128. Those pics I’ve seen of burnt or melted plastic always seem to have oil residue so that’s what I’m kind of thinking starts them ablaze Last edited by Piper1; 10-12-2022 at 01:24 PM.. |

Hi Guys,
Thank for the reply. I will have to take it to tue dealer to get the details. The cars runs amazing and that sports mode sure has a punch. I appreciate all of the responses. I took the car to tire shop “Discount Tire” And one of the sensors was bad. So they replaced it and the signal is off now. Currently working on painting the calipers red to give it that balance of red and black. Also changed all of the BMW emblems to red and black. Looks much better. |

22V-119 recall Fix
BMW finally has a fix:
Description of Repair An electrical wiring harness with fuse protection for the PCV valve heater will be installed for free. If the PCV valve heater is damaged, it will be replaced for free. This may take up to several hours to perform. We should be receiving letters to schedule the repair soon. My dealer said the parts are starting to "trickle" in. |
