Nice garages everyone! From my experience, build the biggest garage you possibly can, and then decide what to do with the space later. Of you'll end up like me...

Not sure I want to know how much of a hassle it is to get to the one on top in back! Interesting arrangement to be sure.
In other news, my brand new Challenger 9K pound lift has sprung a leak at the hydraulic cylinder main seal. I've had it less than a year and used it maybe 20 times. Sigh. |

I usually pick a car and drive it for a week, then re-shuffle on the weekend. Main cylinder leak should be warrantied, especially if less than year old. Hassle for sure, though. |

Challenger certainly seems to have done you no favors...hopefully they'll stand up to their cylinder's failure and make it right. Agree that it's a hassle to go through.

Challenger will take care of it under their 1-year warranty. I just came to dislike dealing with the local company that represents Challenger.
In other news I added an outlet in the attic for the hoist, and extended the cabling on the controller, so now I can operate it from the floor of the garage! I have to haul the old transmission jacks down in the next week or so; I'll take a video of the new arrangement and post it up. |

Blast from the past. Looks like I never posted a video of the attic hoist mods, I'll have to do that. In other news, I hung a shelf yesterday to hold stuff that was junking up, well, the other shelf. It's a little bit of overkill but it's 20" deep and leaves the floor below open for stuff to roll in under it, so I decided it was worth the time and expense. Today I went out to the garage and, lo and behold, the new shelf was full too!

We had some fun yesterday. I finally got tired of having to neatly arrange the pliers in the drawer so that I could close it, and decided to upgrade part of my toolbox. Home Depot had a nifty jack for getting the new unit into the bed of the truck, but it's a heavy sucker -- 250 lbs. I thought about removing the drawers and trying to muscle it down in pieces, then had an "aha" moment. We backed the truck under the electric attic hoist, strapped the box to it, and lifted it off the truck bed. Drove the truck out from under it, dropped it to the floor. Et voila!

It's beautiful!
Having spent a large number of miles behind a similar shaped flat windshield (TR3), I'm betting you'll be in the market for a pair of wind deflectors... |

The drive home was a true learning experience. The pedals are comically close together, the shifter takes practice, and the steering is very quick. The first road I was on had ancient paving that had been pounded by heavy trucks, and the solid rear axle was hopping around a good bit. There's no place to rest your left foot, the wind pummels the side of your head, the transmission tunnel leaks hot-ish air into the footwells. After an hour and a half I was definitely ready for a break! After which I wanted nothing more than to get back in and have another go. Which I did. I'm going to try to make peace with my GoPro again this morning and shoot a video. If all goes well I'll post something up. Quote:
I'll do those things in between drives. |
