Originally purchased a Pioneer Nex 3500 but after all the wiring etc that Pioneer over did on this unit it would not fit tight against the limited space in my 2006 E85. I had issues with the head unit sticking out too far and it annoyed me. So that unit is going up for sale and I purchased the Alpine Halo Jr. (ILX-F259). Was able to get full steering wheel controls working (with the Axxess hardware) and the fit is great. Doesn't impact the vents as much as the pioneer did. Absolutely happy with it. The Alpine does sound better with the factory speakers by the way. Feels like a modern car now. PS also purchased a cheap backup camera that fits in behind the license plate off of amazon which works fantastic. Not really needed for this car front cam would be better but nice to have

Do you have more photos? I'd love to see some additional angles. No HD radio on the Halo Jr., right?

That’s correct. No HD Radio no HDMI on the Halo Jr. what specifically would you like to see. I snap some more shots tonight.

How does it sound and compare to the prior setup? I am now running CSL headers, Euro section 1 and Stromung cans - just about perfect but occasional drone under highway speed heavy load. Stock cans are in the basement, heavy buggers!

Changed the ZHP knob from my Z4M for this 1000g sucker. I now need a short shift kit to take advantage of the weight

Original plan was to keep the SS cans along with the new headers but actually found a local hard top so decided to sell the mufflers to help offset the top. I’ll report back with sound/video clip this weekend.

Thanks. Looking to see at what position you have it mounted and how much it obstructs the vents/climate controls.

Here you go. The mounts on the Alpine screen are in the lowest position. I can still feel air from the vents. The head unit can be tucked back in a little further, but that requires me going back in and wrapping and tucking all the wires in nicely - which I'll do this winter when its parked.

Headers and DKF section 1 on, no codes so far. Also blacked out the stock mufflers (will adjust upwards over weekend)

Now that you've completed, Is this setup the sound that you're looking for?

Had the Powerloops on for few days and it sounded fantastic. If it was my last and final exhaust setup, definitely something I'd be quite satisfied with. It was a tad on the boomy side but no drone unless you were in the wrong gear. But end of day decided to sell so I could justify picking up a hard top

Right now, exhaust sounds great and maybe 85% of what I'm looking for. Quieter than before obviously but I actually don't miss the volume. I actually wish (shocker) it had a little more rasp, something slightly edgier. And I think I can easily achieve that by swapping out the 300 cell cat for the 100 cell.

That's the weird thing with exhausts, driver preferences change over time. Some days I want something loud and aggressive, other days I want something more subdued but hoping a simple swap of cats will allow me to have both.

Been messing with headlights lately but upgraded the factory DRL to LEDs. Actually ordered a pair of 5500K but they won't arrive for few weeks (eBay / Hong Kong) so in meantime I threw these on these 6500K LEDs I found on Amazon for less than $12!

More blue than I like but at least they're true to their description. I'll report back when I get my 5500K in few weeks

That looks surprisingly good - way better than my E90 turned out with just a bulb.

Nope here’s a good DIY.

FWIW I ended up trying 2 more different bulbs. Another blue one and white okr( both slightly brighter but double the price. Ended up settling on the white one. Blue is nice though because it’s more noticeable during the day.

Which one that's the brightest that you ended up going with? Do you have a link to them? Thanks.
