Read several bad reviews about the high vibrations with the jb lightened flywheel. Interested to hear how it works out for you.

Will do, that might be due to people not balancing the flywheel prior to install.
I have seen good brands come and not be balanced at all and then cheap stuff come in and be perfectly balanced. I have just got to the point of always checking prior.

I hoping to have the engine back at the end of the month. I will post a full review of all the upgrades with this rebuild.

I've seen a few threads where, probably due to poor balance, lightweight flywheels have caused the harmonic balancer to explode.

The UUC rattles at low RPM but it’s just noise. Runs smooth after you get through the lower bits (600-900 rpms). I’ve heard from a couple of folks it’s not abnormal but I’m not an expert on the matter. I think y’all are talking about something much more involved as well.

Just another testament. Looking to see more from this still!

My good buddy in Abudhabi had the UUC flywheel, removed it and went back to stock. It WAS noisy as hell, kinda sounded like a dry clutch Duke when idling.

Hows the engine build coming along mate? Cant wait to see some updates.

We are finally getting closer, hoping to get the engine back from the machine shop in the next week or two and the last of the parts are being shipped today.

Just as a recap of all the modifications this round. It seems like this has been the longest winter waiting for parts while we sit laid up

Rebuilt the Vanos - Beisan Vanos Rebuild and added the Turbo Toy TT C300 hub

Upgraded the cams - Schrick 280/272 12.5 Lift with new rocker arms

Full 3.4 L Lang Racing Stroker Kit 95mm lift

Upgraded the bearings as well.

Added the Dinan High Flow Throttle Bodies

Changed out both the Trans and motor mounts AKG Motorsports Polyurethane ungrades

New Water pump, oil cooler and radiator custom configuration from Mishimoto with braided hose lines and aluminum fittings

JB Racing Lightweight flywheel and clutch combo

Supersprint x pipe and straight pipe mid-section replacement just got in yesterday.

Geoffsteel CSL airbox - is the last part and is going out today

Lastly, I have my carbon guy finishing my new gauge panel to swap out the existing ashtray.

I was looking at that clutch/flywheel combo today.. can you do me a solid and let me know the part numbers on the parts in that kit? I already have the jb flywheel, just need to source rest.

I can't wait to hear how that stroker kit goes... Kinda hoping mine spins a bearing now... Lol

M-Cast, looking forward to the continued updates! Some really good stuff on the way. The stripes seem to have grown on me a bit too

Thx mate, yup, that's the exact JB wheel I have. Thanks very much for chasing up those part numbers. Love your work and can't wait to see when it turns over.

So today, I finally got my CSL airbox from Geoff Steel Racing in the UK, and I have to say I am a little disappointed in the quality. They did a great job packing it, even though DHL just dropped it at someone else's door even when it said signature required.

I have a ton of carbon fiber in my car, and I understand it can be challenging to deal with at times. But it blows my mind when someone goes through all the work and then just half aXX finishes it. Unfortunately, I am going to have to have my local guy fix it and spend additional money to get it the way I want.

I guess it does not matter if it is Varis or any other company that makes parts for our cars that does quality work.

Back to work and pull off all these decals and wait for the engine to be completed.

They did increase the price of it as well by about 300 pounds. I was really considering it. But then again the Karbonious is so much more expensive.

Is the damage in the clear coat or in the weave. You'll probably still be cheaper after refinish. Only thing is it's extra hassle.

Project looks great BTW. Love what you're doing to the car.

Good luck

I hate it when it does that.. i am sure it will come out fine though. also not a fan of those stickers. they should have just included them in the shipping box,and you could have added them if you deemed to fit.

Starting to get itchy feet wanting to see this puppy turn over so bad...

so much good stuff in this thread.

Already stripped all that off, I have my local guy fixing everything and getting it up to my specs. They said they would cover the cost to fix the issues, I just wish people would do things right the first time.

I'm very curious to see the condition of your rod bearings after your sessions in track. Do you have any pictures of that?

Amen brother. Sorry about the irritations, but like Vanne, can't wait to see the finished product. It's going to be great.

They were pretty flat. Unfortunately, I didn't keep them once we tore the engine down. I initially thought it was the vanos as you could hear the ticking in the front of the engine. When we got it back to the shop and had them rebuild the top end and add the new cams, I had them check the bottom end as well, and that's when we saw the real damage.

The S54 should be able to go 80 to 100k if the car has been maintained well. I went 102k before wearing out.

These were mine after 127k miles, but I don't track it.

Still had a little life left in them.
Figure I'm good now until 250-300k miles.
