Datalog Request

Does anyone near the SF Bay Area have any datalogging hardware and/or software that I can please borrow?

I need it to diagnose some power hesitation issues with my supercharger, and would like to send the recorded files to VF for diagnosis.

Can buy you a nice meal for your troubles

VF recommended a Bavarian Technic scan tool, so I suppose that would be preferred...but beggars can't be choosers eh?

Works on mac or PC. Probably way better than any scan tool. I also have a cable you can have if you don't have one.

Stay away from this; not nearly enough values for datalogging.

Andrew, I need to borrow yours
I don't think anyone in my area has a BT scan tool.

I believe VF is expecting files recorded using BT only?

I unfortunately don't have funds for the tool at the moment. Need to get a job lol

I guess the sampling rate on that one is not high enough for my purposes?

A computer should be able to sample much faster than any purpose built device. Unless the issue is the serial connection, which even though the cable is USB, it's really a serial over usb hack. But even serial goes pretty high.

Not saying it's good enough, but it should be

Ok I looked into it some more. I can't quite figure out how fast the BT tool logs, according to this post it would be between 25 and 35hz which is between 0.04 and 0.03 second intervals. But according to this post it's only 10hz which is 0.10 second intervals.

bmwlogger is able to do between 0.05 to 0.07 from the sample logs on the website. There's no specific MSS70 sampling though, so I had to use MSV70.

I'll try to hold out for a BT scan tool, since that's what VF requested; and I'm assuming they are more familiar with the data provided by that.

No problem. bmwlogger also exports to CSV, so they should be able to work with it regardless. Anyway if you can't find BT I have a cable with your name on it haha. But hopefully someone comes through.

I don't know your funds, but I use the innovate that is hard wired. Or a better option would be the lm-2 which is portable for afr data logging: $400-600

The cheapest may be someone with a dyno if you know here our issue is.

I have an Innovate LC-1 for AFR signal, but I don't think it can datalog anything for my purposes.

I do have access to a local dyno, but it wouldn't do me any good, since
1) I don't yet have any datalogging device
2) I can't tweak my own tune files

I won't be needing datalogging anymore, since I have scheduled with VF to visit their headquarters down in SoCal to have my car looked at; and to get a custom dyno tune as well!

Hopefully she'll be purring like a minx thereafter
