My project, Z4 GTR Starscream
Alright it's winter here in Sweden so in November I left my Z4 to a custom car builder. What are we going for? Well let's say it's going to be 100% race feeling over it. So a lot of ideas is coming from the Z4 motorsport chassi.
It's only 1 ½ months into the project so it's not much so far but it's on the way to transform ( Thats the name Starscream from transformers hihi geeky yes indeed) So what is going to be changed? First We installed the Bilstein PSS9 coilovers ans a 50 mm spacers ( Spacers was a must unfort. cuz I had already bought the wheels and I love em so thats's why) Next thing to put on is the Stoptech Bigbrake kit: Now we are already to build the chassi of the car, every part is going to be replaced except for the doors and the trunk, So this is how it look so far: This is a test for a rear wing, Im not going to have this but is going to be a big one but its going to follow the lines of the car not just be straight as this on: Im going to update every time it has been some changes on the car so you can see the progress. By the way when this kit is finished, the builder is going to put it up on the market so you can order it too! If you want to know anything just ask! Starscream out for now! Quote:
Well this is going to be pretty much a bolt on kit. But the original back fenders is always firm so they have to be cutted off I think. And also the plastic around the wheels so the air vents will work. So you have to cut some parts but I will try to fix a great how to. So if anybody orders this kit he will almost put it on by his self, with some help from a friend, if you don't have the no clue what youre doing then I prob let someone else do it! Okey fellas here is the update pics. Now you can see how the air outake is developeing: Last edited by fantasticz4; 02-26-2008 at 01:04 PM.. |

At first I was gonna say dude take off the crazy 50mm spacers and get rid of that ghetto look as the wheels were WAY PAST the fenders. Then I saw the wide body molding process and it made sense suddenly. But still 50mm spacers are gonna put a crazy amount of stress on the wheel bolts, especially for a race car that's gonna be driven hard and hard only.
Can't wait to see the final product though. Any photoshop sneak-preview?

Hehe Yeah i know 50 mm is very crazy! I hope everything holds at least one season , but im not going to drive on the tracks as much maybe just two times a year, so It might hold hehe. I can't wait either! Well we don't have any photoshop demo picture, but as I wrote alot of the looks is going to be taken from the BMW Z4 motorsport. Thats the only thing I can give you so far, sorry ... Thanks for the comment btw! |

I would think with that kind of offset that you suspension geometry would be all out of whack, probably really reduce what the car is capable of now. What are your thoughts on this problem or are you going strictly for looks? |

Ah, I miss working with that clay. Smells great. It looks like you've found the proper shop to do the body work. Will they be making the body panels a commerical product once it's done? It seems like alotta work just to do a one off.

So if you live over seas and find a great/inexpensive shipping method I don't believe it would cost a fortune for ya. Im guessing the kit is going to cost about $4-6000 when it's on the market if you choose glassfiber chassi. I can not promise that but im guessing |
