Z4/E85-Convertible Emergency Cable Repair

While fixing the convertible hydraulic pump, the mechanic broke the emergency release cable. The cable with a red ring at the end tip is used to open the convertible top manually when the hydraulic pump fails to work.

I coached the mechanic to get the hydraulic pump replaced by removing the soft top compartment floor inside the trunk.

There are many tutorials to get the pump fixed or how to open manually but none on how to repair the emergency release cable. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to get an entire new cable and remove the soft top to reinstall. It's a pain, but it connects down to the hydraulic motor area and the only way to get there is to remove nearly everything. Since the hydraulic motor is out already, the mech should be able to replace relatively easily.

My question is, why the fuck are you on the forums looking things up for a MECHANIC?!?!? This sounds like a mechanic problem….what shit tier place did you take your car to get serviced?!?!
