Greetings Vanne -
Send us a pic of the Dubai coastline....perhaps we'll see an iceberg as well!

Just kidding, of course. The Dubai coast must be beautiful!

Sorry I don't have a photo yet, but that blue color against the blue water makes me feel some type of way.

This is not your father's VW....
Tell us about it; HP? 0-60? Handling? Braking?

I started driving GTI's the moment we got the first one in late 1982. I've had a bunch since, plus a Mk4 R32, a 2016 R, recently replaced with the 2019 R pictured. 0-60 is about 5 flat with 6MT (which I have), and about 4.7 with the dual-clutch DSG gearbox. Handling & braking are phenomenal. Best part about it is that it's such a good all-arounder - when you just want to lope over to buy groceries, it behaves just like granny's Golf. When you want to get wild and wooly in the twisties, it claws & dances like a champ. 288 hp, AWD, and all the goodies you could possibly want (killer infotainment, outstanding interior, superb fit & finish, all the latest safety stuff, adaptive cruise, etc). Absolutely my perfect daily driver.

KevinC!
Such a tantalizing description....makes me wanna have one of these! Is this the best GTI you've owned? Curious which was the best 0-60 time and handling, braking, etc.

What does your current GTI weigh??

Thanks for the great info and description.

FYI - GTI is a "trim" and only available in FWD. R is the highest available "trim" in the Golf line up and is only available in AWD (Haldex).

BTW - I love our "Golf R" sedan too

KevinC and XMetal,
Thanks for the great info; the video was very informational. Sounds like there are lot of "raving fans" for this platform.

Love mine too...picked up a lightly used mt "R" in July. In short order I've become a huge fan...it's just so good.
Staying with the thread's theme, here's a rear end shot (photo taken from the Z4's driver seat).
