Noise from rear

Hello all I'm new to BMW's so I'm at a loss. I bought a 2003 Z4 with a 2.5 and automatic transmission. I'm getting a howling noise from the rear and at first I thought it was the Firestone Firehawk tires but now I'm thinking it is something different. Any idea what it may be? Thank you

WelcomeRonnie,
Anything rotating could be the culprit.
Wheel bearings, half shafts, final drive. Best to take it to a mechanic for a diagnosis before throwing parts at it.
Can you safely do a visual inspection to see if there are any signs of damage. Perhaps a torn half shaft boot??

Despite my silly remark above, my bet is a wheel bearing or maybe debris in the brakes.
