Are values taking off for low mileage z4m’s
Just saw a 4600 mile z4m for 60000 on z4mbuyersguide.com

I should hope so
We should start to see this as a turning point where low mileage original examples start raising in value, especially the coupes with only 1815 built. Since these are such fun cars to drive, I doubt if there is more than 10% of them with super low miles in unmodified excellent condition. Last of the analog BMWs.

Somebody may be asking $60k but is there a buyer out there at that price?
That said I think values have turned up a bit since I sold my first one in mid-2015. Around that time seems to have been a bottom on coupe pricing. Now prices have slowly climbed back up a bit. Low-mileage cars are definitely getting hard to come by, so it would seem their values would rise naturally as well. I bought my current coupe last November with 34k miles for $34.5k. The seller wanted $38k. The same car would have been asking well over $40k at EAG, no doubt in my mind. But you can still find cars with ~50k miles in the mid-20's occasionally that are in great shape. The trick is finding the spec you want - in my case that meant no nav was an absolute iron-clad MUST, and same for carbon leather trim. That greatly reduces the pool of available cars. Time will tell but I think over the next decade, the coupes will definitely rise in value and become more collectable. People are just starting to realize what a great car they missed a decade ago and the styling is aging VERY well IMHO.

I know I'm more than a little late to the discussion, but asking prices have definitely been climbing in the past 6 months. I noticed it most for low mileage examples, but the 70k+ ones demonstrated an increase too. Of course, book/kbb/nada values for low mileage ones still run way low. That disconnect is getting huge now.
I had to laugh at KevinC's comment above about No Nav & carbon interior being requirements. While I'm probably biased because I spec'd my own like that new 12+ years ago, any other configurations I see for sale just don't seem worth the asking price. ;-) |

I bought a low miles example last fall for $35K CAD, but with modified suspension and intake. I'm currently in the process of gathering all of the factory parts that didn't come with it so that it can be returned to stock - if I ever decide to sell it. I don't ever plan on modifying the engine, and I'm considering searching for a non-nav dash and head unit too...
Bottom line - its a good time to be a z4 owner! |

Idk why everyone hates the nav. It's not that bad. I kind of like it because it has a lot more info to view about misc details like trip computer and station info. And it's not the worst thing to be able to see a map where you're going. I would never use it to actually navigate of course. And if I get tired of looking at it I just close it. No biggie.

Damn, 21k km I'd almost be afraid to drive it as the values will go up. I thought I had low km with two coupes 40k km and 47k km respectively...and I almost hesitate to drive them...because of the low km...well...what I thought was low km compared to yours haha.

Then again, same story with the E9X M3. There's quite a lot of people who hate the iDrive "double-hump" dash, but on both of mine iDrive was an absolute must-have for utility and appearance. In any event, I don't think this is an investment-grade car. If you're looking to make a buck you're better off putting your money in something else (not cars). At best look forward to not taking a loss on this car during ownership. Buy it, drive it, modify it (if you wish), enjoy it. It's a lot less enjoyable when your choices to drive/own the car are based around (potential) future value.

I'm right there with you. Original owner of a BSM with Dark Sepang and only 21,000 miles. Mostly stock, I did put those covers on the shock towers under the hood.

Actually in paying attention to for sale listings for a decade now, I'm just surprised how rare a nav-less posting seems to be. I'd guess less than 10%, but that's little more than a WAG. |

But, you make a good point about it making a better interface to the infotainment & Bluetooth systems - much more info displayed. This really shines if you add an Intravee, which gives you lots of new functionality. Eric @ EAG told me a few months ago that non-nav cars now fetch a $4k premium over nav-equipped cars. If that number is real - that's pretty significant.

That makes total sense, although the majority of non-nav examples I think I've seen were EAG listings. Moreover, it also seems like they tend to be coupes so I've wondered how much that impact of no-nav pricing was wrapped up in higher coupe value overall.

I feel like I'm in the minority that appreciates the nav. Carbon Leather + Nav were a requirement for me.

Take a look at the increase exposure on YouTube about our cars... People love them and as someone said above.. The last of the analog driver's car from BMW. Sitting at 30K miles and enjoying every weekend.

We really need to get Doug DeMuro to review one - dude gets like half a million views in 24 hours. Can you imagine the heightened interest he would create?
