Father's Day nightmare

Went out for a morning drive, notice bunch of smoke in the rear view mirror. The car didn't feel any different mechanically. Luckily I decided to pull over the entire engine bay was cover in oil. Found out one of the bolt have came off on the vanos.

This is NOT good...
Was the VANOS recently serviced??

Did you have to have the beloved Z4M placed on a flat-bed to transport??

I owned the car for two years already. Did 4 track day and a bunch of mountain run. The car only have 38K miles,I didn't touch the vanos since I got the car. Thank god it didn't happen at the track.
I didn't have to call a toll truck, the wife came to the rescue with 10 quarts of oil. I was able to find the leak and pick up and bolt from Home Depot. I was able drive the car home.

Does anybody know a good way to clean oil out of a engine bay? Is it safe to spray it down with degreaser and water?
